Look what happens when you send a “real bass fisherman ” out to catch sunnies.

Actually this is from 5 or 6 years ago. Caught it on 2-lb. line, an ice fly and Berkley power maggot. Could have used the CHAMPION when I saw The mouth come out of the hole.
It was on a private lake with a strict catch-and-release requirement so I didn’t have a chance to weigh it. The only measure I had was my rod is 24″ and the fish was about a half an inch from the full length. I would guess it was over 7 lbs. Pretty sad to say my biggest bass came through the ice.

Wow….Great FISH…. …that’s definitly a LMB of a lifetime this far north, regardless of being caught through the ice…

Nice reference to the “CHAMPION” …and nice guestimate on the fishes weight…It looks to be 7lbs easy…

Can anyone “CALCULATE” it for us?

That is a dandy John. I can’t believe you didn’t break him off on the hook set!!!! I’ve been to that little honey hole a few times myself, but it was never that generous to me. Did you give him the “OH SON!!!” The grin says it all. Fishnut

    John,
What a dandy, maybe the 2 lb. test route is the way to go for hogs like that!

Always wondered if that fish might have gotten an IGFA 2 lb line class record. I’ll never know!!!
