I just recieved via trusty US Mail one of my many fishing magazine subscriptions…with it was a “magazine” by Pure Fishing that was a magazine full of “Articles” wrapped around advertisments…This is clearly a seemingly effective wat to advertise. Anyway, since the magazine was certainly biased, I thought I’d give the board a try…everyone out here has opinions…
The article/advertisement discussed the new water-based plastics, not the super-flex plastics. It was discussing the fact that:
1. They are water-based, and thus highly environmentally friendly, as they are biodegradable. (And, even could be consumed by humans, although discouraged!)
2. Because they are water-based, apparantly they can constantly emit their impregnated scent manufactured into the plastic at the factory, thus being a more effective fishing solution. Apparantly our typical petroleum based plastics do not allow impregnated scents (only superficial ones applied to the outside of the product), but salt can be impregnated in the manufacturing process better than the water-based ones. They, of course, were advertising “Gulp” lures by Berkeley. They also say that their fish biologists believe fish can identify and interpret only water-based scents – that petroleum based are only minimally effective. Hmmm… Berkeley makes both types.
Anyone have any experience with these products? Do you buy into this technology? Is it just “Pure Marketing” by Pure Fishing/Berkeley???
