Got out and fished Pepin today. Finally a day with light wind and warmer temps. Normally put in at LaCupolis. What a sick area for water quality. Much of the Minnesota shore line close to where we launch was like thick pea soup and gross. Talk about ruining you rods, reals, boats and trailer. We spent about an hour at the Lake City Car Wash.

Why does this happen? Is it lack of Flow or Constant wind pushing the green Masses into the shore. What will change the water quality? The fishing was so, so, not worth the hour+ Drive. Comments?

All of the conditions you mentioned are responsible for the bloom. We were out yesterday and found an area where within a 100 yrds it went from 5 ft visibility to pea soup. What was interesting was the fish were in the soup. I’m sure it had nothing to do with their location, just that the algea drifted over them.
