The month of June on pool 8 overall has been a great month. Since school let out I have had the oportunity to fish 5-6 days a week and I’ve been taking advantage of that! Overall the fishing has been good but the size has (had) been hard to keep up for a while. I was consistently catching 12-14 lbs but never a lot more than that, and catching a kicker has been tough for me. I’ve found a lot of fish to be in the slop and some still on the banks and wood, but Friday was a break through day for me. I spent some time last week on the main channel and though I did not catch a lot of fish, the ones I did catch were over 3 lbs. Friday I decided to expand on that pattern and make a slight adjustment which helped me locate a school of hogs. I didn’t pound the area for too long but in the time I spent I managed to catch a 20-1/2″, 19″, and 18″ smallmouth. The fish all came out of the same area in heavy current on a chigger craw. I also had good success in heavy slop with current throwing a frog. overall my limit on Friday was around 16-1/2 lbs with two 2-1/2 lb fish in my limit I couldn’t get rid of. I had a 3 lber on and missed a 4 lber 3 times as it came out of the water on my frog and with those fish I would have been approaching the 18 lb mark. Overall the river is hot right now! I also had the chance to fish with Robby from the site last week and we had a great time. We did not catch huge fish and also did not catch a ridiculous ammount of keeper fish, but we had enough action to keep us busy and the company was great. Robby is a great guy and we had a lot of laughs and fun. Thanks Robby!
