What month is this, August? We have seen this low of water for a year. If we don’t get some rain soon the flow will be down to nothing.

I am more than nervous about what we might be seeing for water levels for late summer.

been some good entertainment in the back channel of pool 4 already with people running some spots that are usually ok this time of year. Sunday mornings launch out of everts could be interesting for those that try to save some time and run the back channel, if the water levels drop much more by the high lines.

i know of a few taking off at everts to pre-fish this week (Weekend series) that ran up on a nice beach and spent a lot of valuable time away from fishing up enjoying the sun and pushing boats off. haha

We have been fighting this same problem on pool 13 all spring. our spring levels were just like late summer. It is kind of crazy and I really hope to get some water soon.

Well the bottom dropped out of P9 over the last 24 hours.

i heard anywheres from 10-15 boats were beached in the fog in the back channel on sunday morning. i took the long way down the no wake zone. looks like that would of been the short way for a few people

Yeah water levels are really down a lot. I was out on pool 7 yesterday and was cruising along in a place that shouldn’t have been a problem, and smoked a wing dam with my motor…tore up the scag pretty good. Luckily didn’t damage the motor itself. So definitely watch the wing dams closer and watch your depths. If the water would have been much lower, I probably would have sunk the boat and had to swim back.

That’s not funny. I know a couple of the guys that that happened to and it was a very serious and dangerous situation. It was fine to run through that area, but one boater got nervous and sat down, causing others that were coming at a blistering speed to swerve and shutdown, getting stuck. Apparently there were like 8 boats and none of that would have happened if the first one would have just ran through it. But seriously, to laugh at a situation where several people could have been injured or killed…not cool.

I don’t think it was ‘fine’ to run that channel. Dean and other locals had been warning people against doing it. They were warned here on IDO, they were warned whenever asked and they were warned by Dean on the stage before the meeting. Running that fast with that many boats over such a shallow flat is not ‘fine.’

Should the guy have pulled the pin and shut down? No, if he was unsure, he should have taken the long way down like my boater chose to do. With $5K on the line, serious consideration to do what is right typically gets thrown out the window.

This is the absolute long and short of the situation and very well stated.
