Im new to this board. I am going to be fishing an Everstart Tournament out of Red Wing/Welch MN on June 26,2002. The host is Treasure Island Casino. I am looking for a knowledgeable bass fisherman that would discuss productive patterns. I am versed on several lakes around the country and am willing to share information with you on those. I live in Ohio and you can contact me at [email protected]

    Thanks

I fished BFL, too. Limit was 3 fish so getting a limit wasn’t the problem. It’s that they have to be 14 inches and there is a no cull rule on the river. If you put it in the livewell it’s yours. I came in 10th with 6.05 lbs. First was a little over 8. Wanted to fish Everstart also but timing was bad with my wife’s traveling. If they come here next year I might get in. As for lures to use? Cranks and spinnerbaits are always good. As for spots? That time of year I would fish as far south as you can get. More current and cooler water. That’s where the largemouth are and they carry more weight. Sorry I can’t give you more but I fish other tourneys on the river and there are lots of guys that would love to know the exact locations that I fish. I can tell you this; I watched the guy who won it catch his fish and it was at the south end of pool 4. Good luck!

Funny all you guys say to go south… My best spots are all north. I’ll tell you this, When I make the runs I turn the depth finder off and read the riffles. The south end will hold many good fisherman but the fish get beat up pretty good. Just my 2 cents.

    Here is a tid bit…

What happens here is all based on water temp. This year is looking like it will be a low water year meaning that the temps will clim higher faster. This will push the Late june fish into july patterns. You will find fish in 2 areas if this remaines true. The biggest LM will be holding in off current water with good vegetation close by. TYpically they will move into the bay and feed while DO levels remain tolerable. If the water temp isget to high they will move even closer to main current. Smallies will be holding in the tops if islands, in sloughs holding on the top sides of toungs and any celery or water grass that has current in it. Don’t be afraid to use some LM tactics in these situations. Basis understanding that LM will transition out of the vegetation when the water temps get to high and back again when it gets into the 70’s and low 80’s. If you get back to me a little closer to tourney time I will be able to better tell you what phase of the summer period they are in. Redwind has huge smallies if you cab figure them out. Ken Penrose and Glen Capen and the IF books will teach you all the biology you need to know.

Sorry to dig up old..and I do mean old posts. But, remember when JC would grace us with actual knowledge and informative posts. Where is he lately? I think I learned more from rifling through his hints and subtle suggestions than anywhere else.

you buy a century oxygen meter. The inventor of this used to live in La Crosse, Martin Venneman.
