I am curious where would a person get a list or specific lock phone number. I have a few tournaments on the river this year and they would be helpful in not getting D.Q.ed
    Thanks

Along the same lines..Are Barges usually scheduled at specific times? Or is it just first come first served?

    Thanks,

I’ve never heard of barges being scheduled for specific times. But I have been told, the lockmaster has to allow one lock chamber up and one down between barges. Not 100% sure on that.

Since we are talking about lock and dams. I have a quick question why did they put a 5A lock and dam and not just keep counting up and skip putting the “5A” in there?

I was told it was because 5&6 were already bilt or in the process when they found they needed to put another between the two. Don’t know if that was just to shut me up or if that was the case but it worked. So take it for what its worth….

I have the # to lock 12 563-872-3314. I know that some of the tournys I have fished the club or director will let the lockmaster know and they will give use a lock time and hold the barges until the tourny boats get through.

That is correct according to the Corp web site. Someplace it list the start and completion dates of each lock and 5A was after 5 and 6.

I know the guys (and gals) at 3 like a heads up on tourneys.

…when running a barge up or down, it’s all hands on deck. When the phone rings, it’s a long RUN to answer it. Also at slower times they have other duties besides filling and draining the tub. From painting to cleaning off the mayflies to changing light bulbs and cleaning off all the chalk messages on the walls from users over the weekend.

    They really like marine radios!

What channel do they monitor at the Locks? Are they all on the same channel?

the folks on the locks would prefer radio communication, they most always have a radio with them, as far as locking pleasure craft between tows it is up to the towboat pilot as they have priority but they almost always let the lockstaff made a round of pleasure craft lockages they monitor channel 14
