i had a fun weekend chasing bass on pool 8. Saturday I fished a few familiar areas, and expanded off of them, finding some submerged stuff I never knew was there. I ended up having an OK outing with my best 5 at 14-1/2 lbs. The worst part of the day was losing my flipping stick to a hungry smallie that pulled the set up into the water while i tried to help land a fish for my dad.
Today the fishing was tough, but Justin and I did the best we could with what we had. we were mostly just putting our mindset into “find” mode and went searching unexplored territory. A couple good sized smallmouth were all we received for our efforts, and a 40″ pike after finding the pike absolutely stacked on a shallow flat with gin clear water. That was the most rediculous strike I’ve ever seen in my life, and definitely (weight wise) tops my personal best skinny 43″er. I’ll get the pictures up of that fat sow as soon as I can. all in all, a productive weekend. I put in several new gps points and caught some quality fish. couldn’t have asked for better weather either!
