Bustin Shad and what bait?

    Last Wednesday my 4 year old got the chicken pox. This ended up to be a good thing cause she had no real ill effects so, dad and daughter went out on a fishing sick day.
    We were in an area of lillys and the shad bustin made it sound like it was raining. I went with a smaller spinnerbait and within 2 hours had 25 fish, all shorts but it did not matter, action is what matters for my daughter. Anyhow have you found that matching the size and color of the shad has been effective or have you had success on something completely different?

    Our luck cam eon BURNING (and I mean BURNING) Shad Raps through the PILES of shad out there… When that stopped working, putting flukes on Carolina’s with a 3-4′ leader worked well.

    Fishing when Shad were around was GREAT!

    If I can’t get them to come up on a ChugBug, I’ve tried dropping a plastic shad down into the ball of shad. Always seems like you have to suffer the small ones to get to the big ones. But fishin is fishin !!
