With the cold temps coming in for this weekend, I feared that it would shut my fish down and we would have a hard time catching anything…I fished some new stuff on Saturday, avoiding the wind and was pleasantly surprised by 6 keepers with my best 5 going 11-1/4 lbs including one 3 lb fish. I thought Justin and I had a decent chance at cracking this one open today, and that we did. We hit it early and found a very tough morning bite. We did catch a couple but nothing substantial. It wasn’t until later on in the day, where we discovered a patter and really let the fish have it! Using reaction baits, we covered water and found a stretch holding many fish. the key was keeping the bait in the strike zone as long as possible, the fish were taking the bait light, and running straight at you!

All in all it was a fun day on the water. We caught 16 keepers total with Justin catching 9 and myself catching 7. Justin had the hot rod today for the big fish, and raked in 15-1/2 lbs of largemouth for his best 5!! Congrats to him, i kept telling him today was his day, and it sure was. Myself, I only managed 11-3/4 lbs for my best 5 but it was great to be out and i did manage a nice 3-3/4 lb fish along with another near 3. We’ll be doing it again soon, it was great fun.

Water temps ranged from 48-53 degrees today.
