Okay… Pools 4 to 13… anyone out there fishing this past week… been icey cold… 19 degrees in Holmen, WI (Just north of LaCrosse by Pool 7) this AM… wow, cold. I have not been able to get out since last Saturday.

Wondering what the temperatures, vegitation, and fish activity looks like out there. Just curious. Anyone brave enough to head out, or are you all (like me) sitting in the warmth of your home rooting for the Cubbies!?

    Reel Guy,
You beat me to the punch. I have not been out for far to long and was wondering if anyone is having any luck as well? If not for our green or bronze back friends how bout some of the toothier critters? (pike)
    Thanks

Come on guys… you cannot tell me that NO ONE is fishing out there? The serious money competitions and qualifiers are over… so those of you staying “tight-lipped” can loosen up a bit… share your stories, share your successes… we all live vicariously through this website until we get out fishing ourselves… share!!!

    . . .

    I look at the numbers… ~200 views… no replies… hmmm…

    Okay, I am done whining!

I can count the number of boats I’ve seen going by my house on 1 hand. The landing in Dresbach has been empty except for the same walleye fisherman that’s been out. I took a drive half way up pool 7 on the highway and saw 1 boat. I plan on fishing this weekend but it won’t be for bass.

I went out yesterday. We started out fishing wing dams and rip rap with rattle traps ,shad raps an k grubs. It was a bust i got one sm on a trap.About noon we headed for some mud flats and finished out the day with good action from lm.I fished mud flats with alittle current close to deep water. The Bass was active busting shad most of the time so we tossed rattle traps when they were all schooled up and shad raps when they wasnt.Ended up with about a dozen or so keepers i guess.Nothing big maybe 2.5 pds was the biggest.Hope this helps someone enjoy what time we have left on the water

Bass have improved again from a week ago. Several locations giving up 13-17 inch bass until you get bored and move on. At one point customer cast 12 times catching 7 Largemouth in the high twos and low threes. Walleye are starting to bite everywhere, but Sheebas haven’t made a mass run from their summer haunts yet. The males are already there in numbers.

I didn’t go out yesterday with the landings all being really busy with duck hunters mainly. But went this afternoon. Fished for eyes to start. Had several to top of the water and lost them, lot of small ones and 1 31 1/2 in. Ha no camera with me or a scale to weigh. My arms ached by the time I got it in the boat. Legs were shaking from the excitemnt of it. But I was a good gal and turned it lose with tears in my eyes. Knew if I didn’t Herb would dis-own me and never take me fishing again if he found out. Went crappie fishing from there and got several BIG slabs and a bucket mouth. ( Yes Herb I know green carp ).
Was a great day for me.

Spent the entire day out yesterday …Started off fishing for some LMB…plentiful, but i didn’t run into anything big. Then i ran up the channel (pool 8)to fish from some stripers/white bass..whatever you call those things..They were hitting hard, but i got bored w/them. Finished out looking for some slab crappies to take home. Bounced from one tree snag to the next, dropping tiny tubes, caught a few from each snag.(they were yummy) On a side note, I stopped off at a wing dam cause i saw 100’s of fish breaking the surface–>Turned out to be gar…(literally 100’s). Where are the walleye’s at

Started off fishing a current break off the main channel. basically a mini wing damn that drops off into 5+ feet of water..There were plenty of small bass holding there. Next moved to some wood/lumber/off of current. Caught both SMB and LBM there. Next was vegetation. I went back to the area i found the 4+ lber in, and there was still plenty of shad moving back there. I actually was chasing them w/my lures, and could watch the LMB come out of the pads to gulp them down. It was fun to watch. I didn’t catch many back there, but I could physically see that they were back there. I was throwing chrome colored cranks all day. I couldn’t find any monsters, so if you do find them, let me know Good luck!!
