St. Croix Premeir casting rod sytle PC610HMF

I bought this rod recently to fish the backwaters of the Mississippi like most guys on this forum. This rod has a heavy action with a medium fast tip. I planned on using it to throw swimjigs and spinnerbaits in and around pads or doe tongue or even eel grass. I figured the heavy action would come in handy to turn a bass around in thick cover and the tip would be forgiving enough to insure a good hookset. Or what way do you fish this sytle of rod? I like the St. Croix brand and this was the only longer rod with a medium fast tip. Any opinons would be apprecaited, Thanks!
