I know the bite has been a bit tough, but with the tourneys out of the way for a bit does anyone who is having success want to share with those of us who are struggling?
On pool 5a,6,and 7 I have a small amounts of success on spinnerbaits in shoreline areas with some current. I will say this is limited success though. I will add that I have not had much time to get out and work it with football, kids and shorter days
    Any help would be dandy
    Thanks in advance

Pool 8 last night struggled at first fishing rock shoreline, so i went back into where i most feel confortable (the SLOP!!) caught about 5-6 fish in 45 minutes..All keepers, including 1 LMB that was 18″ and 2.6lbs…If you don’t mind losing a lure to an occasional Northern, try some slop!!! Not lily pads, but slop. Water depth ranging from 1-4 feet.

I concur… rocks or shorelines are not the ticket for good production… shallow areas with steep breaklines. Work the area good… fish are there, but finding them either shallow, deep, or transitioning seems to be the key now…

Fishing… a great sport, a confusing sport, and often a frustrating sport… if it weren’t for the fish, this would be EASY!

Just think, what if the bass actually READ BassMasters Magazine… maybe then it would be EASIER!

i had one of the better nights i’ve had in a while last night. i was fishing one of the spots that was suggseted to me on the “winona fishing” thread. the shad were up in there thick and so were the predator fish. in less then 1 1/2 hours i caugth 3 decent smallies, 3 large mouth (one dandy 18 1/2″er), 6 jumbo river stripers, 1 northern and 2 crappies. i also had a few other fish that missed the bait. all i was using was a yellow spinner bait and the fish just hammered it.

other then when a slipped on a slippery rock and fell completley under water , it was a great night.

“Sloppy” and I will be going out tonight. We’ll let you know the outcome. BTW – Caught all fish last night on a MossBoss!

We are actually catching good numbers, but the size is not getting over 2.5 very often. Pretty much cookie cutter smallies. Jeremy I guess if I want some size I will have to get sloppy widit. You know I need big fish bad when I go to that green stuff. I have gotten better though . I do actually notice when a fish comes out of the water on my lure without my partner mentioning to me LOL

Great nightime pictures. Do you know what kind of camera you used and did you do anything special for lighting or the flash?

Mt Man… just a $44 digital camera with flash off of e-bay… my buddy LOVES it! It does take good pics… but it MUST be the subject of the photos!!!!

Seriously, I don’t know make and model.

Hey Champman… recognize my (your) partner in the picture?

    hey guys,

nice fish, I would like to hook into a few of them before the snow flies. I am waiting for water temps to cool just a tad more before hitting my secret spot!!!! glad to see someone getting bites.

Another nice nightime picture. I guess maybe I need to either wait till it is completely dark or catch all my fish when it is still daylight. At dusk all my pictures never seem to turn out. It is a two step process though. Point and shoot..LOL so that might be part of my problem/

Mt Man… The trick I was taught in a photo lesson was to ALWAYS use a flash… so, in case you haven’t been, maybe that would help you out at dusk/dawn? Hope it helps.

As for fishing Saturday on Pool 7… LOTS of boats out all sitting on the wing dams… I mean 2 or 3 on each damn from Tremp to Dresbach… what are they fishing for? Are Walleye’s supposed to be hot right now? I cannot believe these folks are all fishing smallies? In fact, I haven’t found the smallies there. Am I doing something wrong?

The fish I found (largemouth) are INCREDIBLY shallow. I had 8 fish over a few hours… 3 were 18″ers… nice ones.

    Thoughts?

got some friends just tearing up the gills on the lake. reports of lots of 8.5-9″ gills. Just also wanted tho say if you ever want to test your bass fishing prowess, try a team supreme tournament- wow they never let up! I had a great year and think I may have finished in the top 10! When it takes consistantly 3# average fish to place, you better know what the fish are doing!
