Pool 8 Bass – What are your thoughts?

I was fishing 8 for a little while early on Saturday… tried the Black River… not much happening up there. Not a lot of current or vegetation coverage, from what I could tell.

There was a pretty substantial tourney that launched out of Mary’s… I assume the Bass World Federation? Was pretty impressive launch… like 45 boats with there lights all on at 6 AM lined up in the no wake… when they hit the tracks… VROOM! One after another… it was fun to watch! Nothing better! How’d people fair?

So, if anyone is interested in replying to how they did Saturday (or this weekend)… where are the bass on 8? Not looking for particulars, just what are you finding? Grass? Current? Rocks? Dams?

The tourney guys seemed to all head south… south beyond the start of running slough at least… did most run to 9? Or, just the southern end of 8? A few seemed to head north… to Pool 7? Wingdams on the north end?

    Anyone wish to share?

My wife and I fished a small husband and wife tourney on Saturday. Only 11 boats. We finished first with 5 bass weighing close to 14 lbs. Our big fish was a 3.5 largemouth. Lost one close to 4 lbs. when the wife hit it with the net. We fished cut banks with current on the south end of 8. I heard there were 20 some boats in the bws. Don’t know for sure could be wrong on that. They don’t have anything posted on their website. I wanted to see if I fished the wrong tournament. I have been having the best fishing of the year on 8. Just my thoughts tho. Our tournament didn’t start until 8 am. Maybe I saw you out there what kind of boat you got.

I drive a 1992 17 foot Fisher with a 90 HP Mariner on it… Named “REEL DEBT”… It once was appropriately named… now it should read “Paid For – But still ‘Reel Fun'”

I think that is AWESOME that you fish tourney’s with your wife. I only know of one other guy who does that regularly. Sweet deal – no better way to spend time with your wife… I mean NO other way!

    Thanks for sharing.

Well as luck would have it we ended up fishing the wrong tournament I guess. Oh well. We still had a lot of fun anyhow. Hopefully the fishing will only get better.

    Bucketmouth,
Congrats on winning the tourney. Glad to see the wife has a great interest in fishing as well. Also glad to see that the loss of the 4lber did not cost you the win . IF it was me and IF it would have cost me the win….well not sure if she would still be Mrs. Hawood04
ps. she would most likely be happier that way
