Ok, Anglers & Posters… who was on the water this weekend and what do you have to report!?!?

Speaking of “Posters”… What do you all think about having our trusted website mediators put out wall sized poster with them on it… who’d buy one!?

I was unable to make the water… I had the excitement of watching my wife run the Korfest fun run (she took 2nd in her age-group ), watching the Kornfest Parade , mowing & watering the lawn , etc. etc. Being a dad, father, home owner…

I will be headed out this week and was curious how you all faired!

    Reelguy,

We had a small tournament out of Lansing on Saturday. I was up pre-fishing on Friday and found fish all over the main channel wing dams. Not alot of size to them but plentiful. Mostly on top water and crankbaits. When the sun began climbing higher in the sky we moved just off the channel into some cuts with moving water. Found fish, but once again they had no weight to them. Mostly 10″ to 13″ fish. Most everywhere we went we found shad. Big schools of shad. Interesting and humbling story. On the day of the tournmanent, we are fishing this cut about 200 yards long w/ weeds and pads on both sides. See shad jumping with bass tearing them up. My partner takes a nice 2-1/2 lb largemouth and we both take a few smaller fish. Then we see this flat bottom boat coming down the cut behind us. He’s flippin the pads and pulling out 2 lb fish or better every so often. By the time we turned around and fished the cut back toward this gentleman we had to ask how he was doing. He told us he’d been catching 2-3lb fish all through this cut and had just lost one he thought would have pushed 4 lbs. Long story short, we watched him continue to catch fish in the pads we’d just fished. Pretty humbling watching someone cover ground you just did with a different result. Oh well. At least I can honestly report that fish were caught. Good luck this week Reelguy. Bring your sun screen.

I’m fishing the MN BASS Federation tournament so Pool’s 5a,6,7,and 8 started the official off limits at 11:59 Friday. I didn’t want to get in any of the WI guy’s way on pool 4 and 5 and I fished lake Minnetonka on Monday and Thursday and didn’t want to drive so I was pretty hemmed in. I did fish the FTR Get Together out of Red Wing and had a ball. Managed to win a great St. Croix rod, met lots of the guy’s, including Jeremy, and had some of the best BQ pork I’ve ever eaten. A special thanks to James and the FTR crew. On Sunday I drove around and watched the WI guys fish and went to their weigh-in. It was a low- key weekend for me but enjoyable.

    Good post Crees.

Riverfan… my guess is that most will be tight-lipped then, eh? The MN qualifier is this Saturday & Sunday with pre-fishing Friday? Where is the weigh-in? I didn’t know that…

Glad to hear you had a great weekend. I will post my comments for Pool 7 fishing Wed on Thursday for you, as I do each week… or, maybe I should charge $$$!!!!

I know Tuesday night’s league out of Dresnach might be short-handed this week, then, with many probably fishing this weekend?

I think the Minnesota Fed tourney is actually the first weekend in September.

We were on pool 9 Sunday. Caught probably 35 fish, 1/2 and 1/2. Some nice smallies on a 3/8 oz buzzbait, some on a silver minnow. One 17″ largemouth on a spinnerbait. The remainder of the fish came on tubes. Overall a good day.

    Guy’s

The MN Federation TOC is out of Winona on September 4&5 (Thursday & Friday). It will include 5a,6 and 7. Our alternates tournament is the 3rd on pool 8. The official practice starts on August 30 and ends the 2nd. The field will probably be over 100 boats.
