Well, it has happened. They have put up the buoys in Beaver Island that designate it as a no motor area. This will not change much for me, but other’s may not like it. It is also closed to all hunting now, except Turkey.

I don’t live in that area, but am curious about this change. What’s going on down there?

It is a “No Motor Area”, no gas motors allowed. It has been designated as a “scenic waterway”.

WOW!!! That takes some of those spots in Beaver Island away if the water is lower. There are a few places that you had to blow in and out or you could not get in.

Then again I don’t fish 14 that much anymore, But I feel the same things comming on pool 13

What do the buoys/signs say? According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Web site, it looks like Beaver Island regulations are the following: Closed to all migratory bird hunting. No motors and voluntary avoidance Oct. 15 to the end of state duck hunting season. To me, that means no problems for accessing with a motor-powered boat until 10/15.

I was told that just upper lake and grass slough were closed to waterfowl hunting, but that might have changed since we gave up hunting there.

    Per USFWS:

In areas posted and shown on maps as “Area Closed” and “Area Closed – No Motors,” we prohibit migratory bird hunting at all times. We ask that you practice voluntary avoidance of these areas by any means or for any purpose from October 15 to the end of the respective State duck season. In areas also marked “no motors,” we prohibit the use of motors on watercraft from October 15 to the end of the respective State duck season.
