The last couple of nights I have dropped the boat in and have been fishing the Coon Rapids and Anoka area of the Miss River for smallies. Overall the bite is pretty good. My daytime bite has been either skipping tubes under docks
or vertical probing the thick trees with tubes or jigs. As evening rolls around the fish have been spreading out on the shorelines adjacent to the above mentioned areas and buzzbaits and lighter hair jigs have taken my fish here. I have had 4 nice fish in the last two days that ranged from 18-19-.5″. The morning bite seems to be better than the evening bite with all the recreation traffic that goes on with the nice weather lately.
There is a public access just down from the HWY169 bridge in Anoka/Champlin and a park access down just above the Coon Rapids dam on the Anoka side.
