Good luck at state boy’s. Hopefully we have a good couple of days pre-fishing. Saturday is the big day. Six boy’s from the La Crosse area are going to fish Lake Naga-Wicka near Delafield WI hoping to make it to the JWC.

Good luck guys That’s my old stomping grounds and I wish I could give you some advice on that lake but back then all I did was party when out there or take the boys swimming. Have a blast.

August 2, 2007 at 3:23 pm #596416the lake waas terible. a 3.13 lb largemouth won it for the 15-18 age group the younger age group found a few more fish than us, and Max Brovarney, son of Dan Brovarney, won his age group and will be moving on to Nationals in south carolina! great job max!
As far as stories go, I have one for you I guess. It was pretty much a heart breaker for me. I already had 1 keeper which turned out to be a 1.52 largemouth in the well, and it was finally my turn on the trolling motor. We headed out to a weed clump on the main lake that had some life on it in practice. I was fishing a baby 1- over the tops of the clumps, and not getting bit..Anyway, I had some grass that got caught on the hooks, and I ripped the bait a few times to get the grass off. Unfortunately right as I ripped the bait, a 3+ lb smallie took a swipe at my bait, and I basically pulled it right away from him, and he darted back into the weeds. As it turned out, with that fish I would have easily been heading to nationals. Instead I just wound up in 4th or 5th? place with my scrawny little 1.5 lber. oh well. The weekend was a pretty fun time though hanging out with everyone, despite the tough fishing conditions.
If you want more stories that aren’t so much related to fishing, talk to Tony

Man you are getting good at weighing fish, and it was never in the boat
Just kidding dude
Sounds like you river guys need a little clear lake water practice. Chalk it up to a good experience and move onCongrats to all you guys that had the opportunity to fish State, and Congrats Max
August 2, 2007 at 7:12 pm #596488I don’t know if you could pay me to fish that lake again. and yes i do have at least one good story. But i don’t feel it needs to be discussed at the moment.
Q-T
August 2, 2007 at 7:38 pm #596501i can see this lake being halfway decent in the spring, prespawn-spawn season, and probably late in the fall, but it sure wasn’t very good for us this time. It’s not like it was just us “river guys” that struggled either, considering only a handful even brought in a fish..looks like it is probably a very good panfish fishery however, there were bluegills everywhere!
Come on QT spill it!
August 2, 2007 at 8:29 pm #596521The lake isn’t very far from my house…it is a good lake, I have fished it many times. However, you won’t get them on swim jigs or frogs ((river boys))
August 3, 2007 at 3:04 am #596637I actually had a few blow-ups on a spro back in the kettle. I lost around a 15incher at the boat. But as far as swim jigs go, there is some stuff that looks like a swim jig would work around, but i don’t think i caught anything all week on a swim jig.
