the lake waas terible. a 3.13 lb largemouth won it for the 15-18 age group
the younger age group found a few more fish than us, and Max Brovarney, son of Dan Brovarney, won his age group and will be moving on to Nationals in south carolina! great job max!
As far as stories go, I have one for you I guess. It was pretty much a heart breaker for me. I already had 1 keeper which turned out to be a 1.52 largemouth in the well, and it was finally my turn on the trolling motor. We headed out to a weed clump on the main lake that had some life on it in practice. I was fishing a baby 1- over the tops of the clumps, and not getting bit..Anyway, I had some grass that got caught on the hooks, and I ripped the bait a few times to get the grass off. Unfortunately right as I ripped the bait, a 3+ lb smallie took a swipe at my bait, and I basically pulled it right away from him, and he darted back into the weeds. As it turned out, with that fish I would have easily been heading to nationals. Instead I just wound up in 4th or 5th? place with my scrawny little 1.5 lber. oh well. The weekend was a pretty fun time though hanging out with everyone, despite the tough fishing conditions.
