Cade, how can you even talk about “my spot” . I used to fish with you so I know what your deal is. Example(s)1. we were out in your boat fishing (a few years ago) and you got a hit that broke your line, I casted over there and you flipped out. the same day the same thing happened to me ,except the fish snagged up my crank, you casted over and caught one and thought nothing of it. 2. One day at kirchners pond you asked if you could try out my new reel for a couple of casts and i let you. So i picked up yours and casted out and hooked one on the first cast. You droped my rod and took yours back and claimed it as your fish and even posted the pic of the slab gill on this site. 3. The “baby bass spot”. we had been fishing this spot quite succesfully, as in you and me, while andy had caught nothing. you had like 20 some fish on shore while I had like 11 or 12 or something you stopped fishing for a few minutes to chang lures and andy walked over to where you were fishing and took a few casts. as soon as he caught one you yelled at him and calimed it as “your spot”. These were just 3 of many examples.
Point is Cade, you are the last person that can ever talk about “my spot” I don’t care how much trouble i cause or how much hate mail I get about this post. I know I’m right about this, and any one who disagrees should take Cade fishing for a few days and see for yourselves.

I fish with cade and he is a hell of a fisherman. I have no complaints about how he fishes. He respected my fish if I had a hit, and let me go back in and get him(well try). i don’t know, maybe he used to be like how you described, but he defenitly isn’t anymore. Cade, keep up the good work, and don’t let people get to you.

okay, I am not a kid, but I am not a “serious” threat on pool 8. and 99% of the guys wouldn’t know me or my boat. But I was fishing a main river point and I was working right to the top of it. Some other ” bass guy” decided to pull right in front of me and take the prime spot, even though he KNEW I WAS WORKING MY WAY right to the point. This was totally rude.

I try to treat everyone, perch jerkers or bank fishermen or who ever, with respect. I treat them the way I would want to be treated at all times. if some one is on that bank or working toward a spot, Hey its a big river, it’s time to go to the next bank. why pull in on a guy who is on a spot, whether he is a tourny guy or not.. He was there before you, didn’t realize that you own the water, and that HE SHOULD MOVE, so that YOU could take the prime location.

Treat every one the way you want to be treated out there. Treat EVERYONE WITH RESPECT. and hopefully they will do the same to you.

Great point old rat I am not going to say anymore about this topic or it will get out of hand, as usual. But, if everybody would follow that philosophy, we could get along so much better

Hey wats and river rat. I agree with you both. Some people do that and it is not right. Typically though, they just really don’t even know what they did wrong. So I like to tell them nicely. You might as well or they’ll keep on doing it. Funny story here…..Same thing happened during our little funsy tournys on lake Zumbro to me. I made it apparent that it wasn’t right with some accurate casting and such. After the fact I find out that the culprit works for me. Hi Tony. He didn’t have a clue.

good point rat. I try to do the same in my boat. I have a philosophy that courtousy is more important than taking a few casts in a good area. I also try to keep my distance from other boats that are fishing and idle through. I just wish everyone would quit going screaming by me whild I’m standing in my boat fishing. I know on plane the boat makes less wake, but I just want them to keep their distance.

    Hey Old Rat,

You know I had run-in with a guy, first off let me tell you I love to fish pool 8 in late March thru early April for the big Walleyes ( and I do mean BIG ), I fish off the float at the dam. Guys have no respect for people not in boats also , they see you catching fish and bring there boats right up next to you. You ask them to move so you can keep fishing and they start arguing with you about how you don’t own the river. Meanwhile they are arguing with you with their trolling motors going and it’s getting fishing line from others on the float wrapped around their props, then they get really mad, you shrug your shoulders smile and say I told you so and he’s back at the landing fixing his motor instead of fishing.
If anyone would like to see pics of some nice eye’s e-mail me and I’ll send them to you. Can’t resize them to put them on here.

You won’t have to worry about it anymore. The float has been shut down

The way I look at it when it comes to shore fishermen is that if I’m in a boat then I have the whole river to fish and the guy on shore or float only has a small area to fish so I had better stay out of his way. Its the only sportsman way to treat another angler. Its common sense too.

How come they shut the float down? Not getting much business now since summer is here?
    Thanks, Bill
