Well, 6 boats, 12 fisherman (we had several children this week, but some are very good fisher-people!)
(2 fish limit) Winning boat had 2 Smallies… 3.0 & 2.6 – a couple of nice Smallies. All but one boat had fish to weigh-in, so a decent night. Nothing to really brag about.
As for the report: My partner and I targeted Largemouths in the backwaters in slop and slight current to slack water… nothing too big moving. We finished fishing the most current we could find (and it wasn’t much) and caught our fish for the night. Those that were most successful had a VERY slow presentation with a variety of plastics on, in, or very near current. All told, we boated a dozen or so shorts and a couple decent fish.
Hope this helps those headed out on the water soon. My guess is fishing will be best (fast and furious) for the first few hours of daylight and then slow during the day.
Take care and good fishing!
