I got a tourney this coming weekend on pool 10 and might lock to 9. Have the Mayflies hatched yet? Is the river up or Down? Anything else you feel like sharing I am all ears or eyes in this case.

    Thanks

I’d heard pool 9 experienced a Mayfly hatch. I’d also heard pool 9 is ungodly dirty but the fish are biting.

    Good luck with your tourney.

was on the upper end of 9 on sun and i did not see any mayflies. water has dropped and so has the bite at least in our case it has.

go to pool 10. It is awsome right now. Crankbaits are doing good there. i was there on friday and sunday and i probably got 15 keepers from 7:00-1:00 got my limit of 4 pounders and one 5 pounder. it was so good i got 2 fish at the same time, like they both hit the same crankbait. two one lure. most of the time they were small ones, when i got two at one time but one time it was two keepers that did it. the second slough towardst the dam there is this sand point right at the entrance on the side with the fallend tree, bring that crankbait right up and over during the moring it is every cast.

Last Saturday I was on pool 9 and the trees were thick with them. The birds were bloated and the gills were turning the water into a froth from all the feeding.

I was on 9 today and there was no sign of a shadfly hatch. Water was pretty dirty though. We still did well catching probably around 70 fish. Biggest being around 4 pounds. They are stacked right now so if you find one, you’ll likely find ten.

during the week those points are good, but come weekends, they shut down completely. everyone fishes them during the weekends. they were my #1 adn #2 spots for the Bass World i won two weeks ago but they moved off the points to an undisclosed location where whacked ’em good. try back in the second slough down from the dam. that first slough below the dam is loaded with pike, so watch out.

pool 9 has been giving up some huge sacks lately, we’ve been whacking them pretty good, our best 5 the other night was probably 18 lbs easy

I’ll agree that pool 9 is putting out good fish. I caught around 12 lbs out of the back of the boat wednesday, and my friend caught 16. He had a smallie that was 20-1/2″ off a wingdam. It was unreal.

you do realize that fish would have gone about 5lbs right?

Here is a fairly good guestamate system for ya.

Call it the JC Scale for the big muddy.

    14 1.50

    15 2.00

    16 2.50

    17 3.00

    18 3.50

    19 4.00

    20 4.50

    21 5.00

Interesting, that weight system is the exact same length/weight ratio I have been using for the last 3 years of my fishing. yeah thats about what we put it at. Yeah I realize that, it was a hog!

Why even bother with all this guess work, go buy a digital scale. Talks cheap, put’em on a scale.

Just so you know, I have 2 scales. I don’t see much point in weighing them on my cheap berkleys..I used to weigh them all the time and have gotten very good at guessing weights. I don’t bother weighing every fish I catch and keeping it out of the water longer just to know that exact ounce weight, when I can say well thats a 2-1/4 or whatever and let it go. I feel that I don’t need to prove anything to you or anyone else here The only time that really matters is in tournaments
