Beef slough area?

I am thinking of trying some different areas for smallies. Is the area above Alma on pool 4 good for bass? On the map it looks like there is some deeper channels on the Wisconsin side above Alma. Also it looks like there is a railroad bridge to go under to get to beef slough. How tough is it to get back in these areas and is it worth it as far as the fishing? Amy info would be appreciated. Thanks.

There is probably better places to look for smallies.

I agree with Eric. Also, that is considered WI inland waters so you will nee a WI fishing licensee.

I was in there this last Wednesday. I came into it from the river and had to get out and push the boat over 6 inches of water to get it in. Then it drops off to deeper water. Lots of pads in there. Caught 3 legal large mouth, but not worth the effort to get in there.
