8 guys, 4 boats… 3 Legal fish in 2.5 hours – interestingly, all in the upper 2 lb class – decent fish. Plenty of short fish.
Mountain Man – your earlier concern this year over “where are all the 10” fish”… no worries! It seemed strange that we were in lots of small fish, and then when a legal came around, it was a nice fish…
Fish were found in SLOP (best activity with lost of missed fish – as many of you know, I am learning this technique), near current breaks (stumps/wood) on grass cut banks with plenty of access to deeper water. Shallow walls were not producing. Smallie bite was not apparant… tried rocks and sand flats… no where to be found (or at least we couldn’t entice them to bite.)
Fish all came on soft plastics worked slowly… & VERY large spinners. Decided after not a lot of activity to try large bladed willow leaf spinners for some reaction bites in the last 15 minutes working fast for a final fish… got the largest fish of the night.
For those in the tourney this weekend… good luck. Fish are hesitant and biting soft and short. Be patient, they are there! Good luck to all. I believe pre-fishing is Friday… weather pattern change from Friday to Saturday might prove to be good… or bad…
