Does anyone ever bank fish on the WI side of Lock and Dam 10. I am new to the area and just got done with college for the summer. I am looking for some new spots to fish and have always been a fan of fishing dams. Any tips or advice would be great. Thanks.

I don’t get down that way much anymore, but I used to see guys fishing from shore quite a bit there. Like below pretty much any lock I would assume you could get a mixed bag of smallies and largies, maybe even a striper or one of those stinky walleyes. I have caught a few bass there throwing cranks waiting to lock. It’s pretty much rock rip rap so tie on a crank and a tube and give it a whirl. Good luck and let us know how ya do!

Donny, I assume your talking about the Guttenberg dam. The Wisconsin side is actually very good fishing. There’s an old closing dam you can walk out on when the water is lower that’s very good fishing. The rip rap along the tracks also produces at times. The nice thing about the area is that you never know what your going to catch. PM me if you want more detailed info.

Good thing most folks don’t give up that easily… Know that if I did, I sure wouldn’t be fishing for bass…

Thanks alot for the info guys. I really appreciate it. I just didn’t really want to make a 40 mile round trip out there without knowing a little bit about what to expect. I haven’t fished in over two weeks because of school, so I’m really anxious to get back out there. You know I was wondering though because after I read all of these posts I did make a trip out there last night and it looked like there was an old road downstream from the dam, and the map said there was a hatchery around there. What was the road for and where is the hatchery? It was nearly dark when I went so I really couldn’t tell. Thanks again and good luck this weekend to those of you braving the crowds. Be safe out there.
