I got a call from ACE today and Rick Wagner has started a monday night contest out of south goose. These are the rules as I understood them… $10 a boat, one or two anglers per boat. 2 bass per boat. 100% payout to three places. Take off is on your honor at 4pm. Weigh in is at 9pm at south goose. you must pay at ace before close sunday nights.

I’m sure there will be changes made down the line as people make suggestions but tonight is the first night! i will be fishing them all starting next monday.

Hope to see some of you guys out there, this is just fun competion and anyone and any boats are welcome!

well last night was interesting. the first spot we stopped at we didn’t get a bite. then leaving i floped in the trolling motor and some how some way my trolling motor prop popped off and sank to the bottom of the river. So it’s 4:30 i have no trolling motor, no anchor, and an 18 pack of bud light. We ended up just beaching on some spots and fishing them very hard. We managed to get two fish for maybe 4.5/5 pounds. The heart breaker is that my partner lost three good fish, and i lost two. One of which was probably 4 or better. I am hoping it had something to do with bringing them INTO shallow water instead of OUT of shallow water. Either way i have never lost fish like that before. Rick Wagner won it with 7lb 11oz! With two beautiful largies. Rick also won big bass and overall weight in sundays msbc. Congrats to a man who is trully on some good fish.

    Kevin,

That is a bummer on the trolling motor. Did the whole thing go or just the bottom portion with the prop?

You still fishing tomorrow night? If not, it looks like it will be the Karl vs. Curt Wednesday Night Goose Island Classic.

Good luck with getting the boat back together.

I’ll be out pre fishing tonight. Waiting for my dad to get here and I’m gone. I would have gone tomorrow, but looks like they are calling for some strong thunderstorms and hail possible I don’t think i will be able to do the Monday nighters until school lets out. I don’t even get home until dang near 4 on monday’s as it is. But in 2 weeks I will definitely take you up on that! Also, are they having this on memorial day? I am off on memorial day. The only part I do not like is not being able to be out prior to the event. That is going to kill in the summer time, what am I going to do the rest of they day??

Karl and I did get out to Goose Wednesday night in between rain storms and had a decent two hours of fishing. We started the day with a 17.5″ smallie and then added some decent LM. Shaky rigged worm, swim jig, creatures, and a buzz bait all landed fish. Like this past weekend, we never did find grouped fish.

Nice! Congrats on the decent outing. I agree the pattern that I am on is producing scattered fish, and if you work for them you can do well. However, The right places with the right contour are finally starting to group up. I caught 6 keepers off of the exact same cast placement to the exact same thing on tuesday night. they are finally stacking up, It’s just hard to find them that way.
