Got out for a couple hours tonight on shore to try a spot I haven’t fished yet this year. I’m quite glad I did because It is a fairly large area that is holding great numbers of large, fat bass. Tonight I managed to stick a 3 lber, a 3-1/2 lber, a 2-1/2 lber and a 14″er along with 2 dinks and northern. These fish are definitely getting ready to spawn if they aren’t already yet. I still believe that the true hogs are out on staging points and drop offs, but you can get a great average faster and easier out of shallow water and then drop back to you staging areas. I am catching my fish on various different swim jigs all in a variation of a certain 3 colors. that would be Black, blue, and purple. The jig I used tonight had all 3 pair this with a pearl/black fleck grub and you have a great combination. I haven’t been talking much about swim jig colors lately because I had an event I was fishing and several of the contestants frequent this website..but this is the pattern I have been using for a couple weeks now and it is holding up very very well all over pool 8. the key is swimming it slow and wood and weeds are usually mandatory, or at least some weeds present if you are planning on getting bit. I have tried some other stuff but just not as much success. Also the fish are often holding in the wood, but then you go to places that are sand/wood, or mud/wood with no weeds and it seems like you can’t muster up much. Stumps are also kicking up a lot of fish.

Hope everyone else is having a good spring on the river. So far so good as far as I am concerned Just need a few 20″ers soon and I will be good to go!
