Tourneys

I would like to put a plug in for a new tourney circuit on the river- American Bass Anglers has 2 districts in eastern Iowa- District 46 on pool 16, and District 73 on pool 13 (District 73 manager Ken Warren frequents this web site). These tournaments are new and the numbers are small, but it is a national “chain” and there is a National championship. They are nice for those who do not have flexible enough schedules to fish all BFL, Team supreme or BWS tourneys to qualify for regionals or nationals. You can fish any district and as many tourneys as you want, taking your top 4 regular and top “Super Tournament” results to qualify for nationals and a shot at 1 of 3 TR 21 boats. It is a nice circuit for those new into tourneys, fairly low entry fee and good people. If you bring a boat, you use your boat- if you dont have a boat you get “paired up” as equal anglers- ie equal time in front, equal spots chosen, etc (if you so choose). Between the above 2 districts, there are about 18 regular and 2 super tourneys to choose from, which allows flexibility with scheduling. Go to the ABA home page for more detail and links to the local districts. Just wanted to get word out, good luck to all.

I know they have been talking of expanding the waters- maybe other pools, maybe Palo, Coralville or McBride (early in the year). Will have to wait and see how things pan out over time and the circuit grows. I think they are open to suggestions.

I live on Palo Lake.. McBride has a 9 banger limit after labor day. If they make it over in my back yard I feel sorry for the competition.

Yeah, it might be trouble for the visitors myself included . I think the thought was mcbride sometime in early spring during the unlimited motor, no wake rule. I think it is still in the prelim stages, but It might be a nice circuit for eastern iowa to involve those lakes and maybe Lost Grove in the future- 1 mile from my house if they ever build it. If it would swing you or others, im sure Ken would be happy to hear it- as stated the numbers are low now but the tourneys are well run and the circuit is established across the country. I for one have enjoyed the flexibility since i am on call 1/4 weekends and have a wife and 3 yo to spend many of the others with which keeps me from committing to a circuit like BFL where you pretty much have to fish them all to advance. Think about it for next year, email ken at [email protected] if you want to put in a vote for Pleasant creek or have other input, im sure he would appreciate the input (If you dont im sorry Ken).

Sorry Guys, I know this is an old post but wanted to let you know. Our schedule is out for 2004 and we are moving north some. District 73 will still be fishing pool 13 but fishing pool 11 and 12 as well. So I hope to hear from some of you in Dubuque. Sorry the Palo, McBride idea would not work because of HP and size limits. Coraville just sucks!

Here is my web site. Take a look!
