I have a new Lowrance graph coming and would like to use it with my Minn Kota trolling motor with bult in transducer. Will this transducer work as well as the skimmer puck that comes with it.It has the 480×480 pixels , but have been told this transducer would not give a good enough picture to see a fish coming to your bait in deep water. I hate to strap a skimmer on because I paid the $$$ to get away from that.Any info would be appreciated.

I can watch fish in darn near real time comming up on my bait with my universal sonar and 337. I think you’ll be just fine. I’m happy with mine, I did the same thing you did.

I think that the key is your Graph has the kind of resolution to take advantage of the signal…shouldn’t be tied to the transducer (gotta believe they use the same technology on all lowrance transducers)…for example, I’ve gone from an X-51 to and LMS-480 to a LX-17 using the same transducer with no issues…

However, that’s a great question…and one you should consider asking directly of the folks at Lowrance…one of the biggest reasons I’m a Lowrance fan is their tech service…these guys are good…and they all fish too, so they can explain it very well/clearly to even someone like me who uses fingers and toes to count…

    Here’s a link…e-mail or better yet, call…they’ll be very helpful…

I used to work for Cabelas in the product information department and the main problem people had with seeing fish deep down is their cone angle of the transducer. It wasn’t so much the resolution because anymore the higher ones are at least a 480X480 resolution. If you have too large an angle you aren’t going to see down deep in as much detail as you would if you have a smaller cone angle. The newer ones have almost completely gotten rid of that worry because they are either dual or triple cone angle built in.

Lowrance definitely has some good techs if you speak to the right person. I have been on the phone with them several times. Their website has a huge amount of information on it as well. Hope this helps.
