I am DEFINITELY fishing Catfish Days and recommend it to all. It is the one tourney a year that is more “fun” than others… probably due to the fact that it revolves around a family type festival – Catfish Days.
The Fishing Tourney has 2 divisions: Walleye and Bass
It is a Team Event (2 fisherman per boat)
4 limit on Walleye
6 limit on Bass
$100 per boat entry fee
Pools 5, 5a, 6, 7, 8, & 9
Lauch start is on the south side of the Tremealeau Damn.
Fliers for the event can be found at Mary’s (Bob’s Bait and Tackle) and at Gander. I’m sure others have them, too.
This Friday is the pre-tourney meeting. You can enter there.
Last year ~125 boats were entered, I think ~65 boats were Bass fishing… my partner and I have finished Top 15 each year… always just out of the money… Hoping this year turns the tide… fishing this year with my dad in his new Ranger…
There are a LOT of father/son combos in this event… if my memory serves me well (Monday morning… could be a stretch) 1st and 2nd place went to father/son combos.
Lots of locals fish this tourney. You will have people from out of town, of course, but you will have everything from 21 Ft Bass rigs with 250Hp to 12 foot john boats with a 25 Hp… last year someone is a small flat took home some $$$. Good for them!
Only requirement on the boat is to have a working livewell.
Whew! Hope to see you all out there!
