This isn’t the first bass in my boat in 2007…. we catch a couple a day through the winter fishing for walleyes. What this fish represents is the first “jumper” in my boat in 2007.
Prior to this fish the water temps were too cold and the smallies were too sluggish to get any hang time. This little girl wowed the guys and me with a full back summersalt followed by a leap clear of the water and one of those classic side to side head shakes that spray water left and right prior to re-entry.
Man…. did that sunshine feel GOOD!
This particular fish was caught by Byron Nordell on a firecracker chartreuse tail paddletail. My guess on the length would be about 14″ so none too impressive in the size category. What she was short in size she made up with attitude.
It won’t be long and Blue and I will be hard at the smallies up on mille lacs.
