Water Rising… Fish Moving?

So, anyone have any advice to a guy going out tonight on Pool 7 as to where to find the concentration of fish? On Sunday with the water coming up, it seemed to slow the Smallie activity on the dams and rock walls. Would this be normal, or was it the tough bite after morning light? Would Largemouth be tight to cover? Shallow or near a drop?

If you were me, where might you try (in general, not specifically) and how might someone fish tonight? Any advice/insight would be great!

(I know, this is kind of like asking: “If you wanted dinner, where would you go? And, might you consider paying? )

Sorry I am late… Next time I would head towards the bank in some of the backwater. Often the rising water brings all sorts of things into the water often causing the fish to feed up shallow. Cut bank, the shallow areas that you often use in the summer are good bets. Smallies will shut down on just about anything. In adverse water conditions they are eaither feast of famine.

We were out this morning on 7, and caught fish in the very type of areas Jeremy described, though we didn’t get much for size. The ones we did catch were all TIGHT to the bank, I mean not beyond 8 inches away from shore or the reeds.

With the results The Great Caledonian had last night, I would maybe look to that pattern. Or, give the cut banks a shot, I may have just been on the wrong banks!!

Well, guys, my report from last night is not a good one…

Thanks for the advice , but unfortunately, I struck out catching only under 14″ fish (ok, I had a legal on, but fishing alone, I lost him reaching for the fish! )

In total, 7 Boats, 13 Guys… 3 legal fish (2 Smallies and 1 Largemouth) Real tough night. Pool 7, areas fished were channel, Gibbs, Blue Pond, and many other sloughs. No one fished the lake.

Anyone else out last night? Curious how others did?

Yesterday form 4-8 PM the fish were right back on the rocks where they were Thursday before the water started up. Not quite as aggressive, but still fun and a lot better than Tuesday. No real size though. Maybe high twos max.
