Well, I took the boat out on Pool 7 and when and did some exploring in the backwaters. The water was really moving and high in the backwaters. The main channel was REALLY flowing as well. I made my way into some flooded islands and searched out some current seams, points, and submerged timber. I only got one really good whack on a swim jig. Not sure what it was, but I could see it making a wake as it headed to the bait. While I was out there I snuck up on a flock of turkeys on a very small island. There was also a nice looking red fox out walking around. Then there were the pair of hooded mergansers, buffleheads, countless mallards and wood ducks, as well as eagles. There was also a snake out swimming around. I may not have found any fish, but the rest of the wildlife made up for it

if that snake looked mad it is because we gave him a ride. We were out fishing and seen a few reptiles out. The only one that got my attention was the one slithering toward the boat looking for a sunny place to sit(the turtles were still dumb and slow). i told my friend not to let it close to the boat or it would climb in. my assumption that he would take care of things was incorrect. The damn thing started the trip in, by way of the jack plate.
Now i like nature as much as the next person, but it needs to be in its place, at times. I dont jump on his back and look for a ride. So i dont expect him to jump in the boat looking for the same. Though he did try.
We seen him climbing, but figuered that if we fired the main he would see reason and find a warm stone some where. Well he must be as hard headed as they come because even after a 2 mile trip at 60mph in a nitro on rough water he still wanted in.

I finally shoed him off with a flipping stick but he let me know he was not happy.

On the flip side we had a little luck with the yank’em jigs pulling a couple off of wood in the warm water. Nothing to brag about but but that THUMP!!THUMP!! was a hell of a feeling after drinking all winter long……
