Driving by the lake yesterday, we seen a whole lot of open areas and ice that is very close to being gone. I am predicting we will be on the lake in under a week. The honeycombed ice will not last with these temps and the wind we have right now

This morning there were still patches of ice on the lake.

On may way home – the Lake is WIDE OPEN. The 40mph winds today took care of business

fished on shore at goose island last night, and in the boat today. There is 0 ice to report in any backwaters, even the small bays. I am a dumb and forgot to check the water temp. Oh well..I am betting mid-upper 40’s at this point. too bad it was so darn windy today..I think we could have actually caught fish without the wind..maybe not though. It was nice to be in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals again. Also bought a maxxum 44 lb thrust trolling motor today and had fun getting used to that
Next week I think the fish will be biting

Water temps were around 40 on the river on Friday. Backwaters reached as high as 48, however.

It should be quite a bit higher at this time. I’ll find out tonight.
