Is it just me?

I agree, but here’s my thoughts…and hopefully it’s all going to change within the next week or two.
1. Nothing to report…yet
2. Discussions usually end up with me making some wise crack (or some goofy walleye guy invading the bass forum)
3. Bass guys have talked about every new lure and presentation in at least three threads since late november
4. More ‘bass’ talk just adds to the winter fever
5. We all have now all seen the transformation happen before our eyes and are in awe… 1st it was Blue fleck and then it was Tom Donaldson, and then back to Blue Fleck. And the most recent version has come out in the form of a brovo swim jig. It’s amazing what keeps us entertained…
March 22, 2007 at 3:20 pm #551999You think this is bad.. I am in post partum with the Deer Hunting forum. Lip throws a bone every once in awhile… thanks Bud.

riverbassmanPosts: 255March 22, 2007 at 6:35 pm #552099I am thinking there got to be some bad vibes going on this board, kind of the reason I have stayed away. it was kind of becoming a if you are one of the guys type club or just say good old boys club. Others (call them outsiders) would offer an opinion on any subject and the “group” would jump all over them. I just got sick of it, maybe others did too.
March 22, 2007 at 8:35 pm #552137i don’t know maybe i didn’t notice…looks like alot of us looked to the “future” anyway.

I’m not really following you here. How about providing a recent example as to what you’re refering to…
I know some guys like to proudly share what works for them (you’d think others would welcome that), but I can’t recall anyone jumping all over someone???
Please provide a recent example so we know what you’re talking about…
riverbassmanPosts: 255March 22, 2007 at 9:13 pm #552172Not really any recent examples, I have not been reading recent or certain posts on this thread, but I will give you some ones from the past, and I know I am not the only one who seen it. Team Supreme… even a moderator on this site was letting people have it, even in the EARLY stages of the accusations. Baits.. if you brought up another brand name that half the people on this site were NOT sponsored by, you would get ganged up on, even if you were comparing.
I am not causing trouble(trying not to anyway), just pointing out the original question of where everyone is at. D-Nort, pm me if you want to get into specifics.BomberAPosts: 649March 22, 2007 at 10:36 pm #552205yeah thats what i was referring to

Thats kinda creepy!
March 23, 2007 at 12:45 am #552262For the most part, all the old bickering has pretty much ended We lost a few guys for awhile, but they are still here daily. This is still too early for the main chatter to start. But, with this weather and more people getting their boats out, it will pick up again
March 23, 2007 at 12:54 pm #552430I’m gonna be stuck at home for this tournament season, so I’ll be living vicariously with all you Mississippi bass fishermen. Nothing to get too excited about, but waiting for the local rivers to get back to normal levels and clear up, and the local ponds to turn over now that the ice is gone.

“future” meaning the “other” website/forum????
I just pulled forum stats. The bass forum has 75% more daily visitors than at the same time last year. What we DON’T have is anything to talk about. Unless you want to rehash some tourney talk or talk lures. And I think that’s what you guys did for the last two months.
As for the health of this forum… people did leave. But they came back with a couple buddies each.

Whether it is who can advertise, getting posts deleted or the Pool Four group I agree to an extent. This board is strickly controlled and in many cases not that helpful.
And when you ask for advice, not about specific fishing spots, but general info and the guy (Briank) responds by telling you to read a book you lose a bit of respect for some of the folks on this board, including the afore-mentioned person.
However, James did remind me that in regard to fishing I can post anything I want about whatever river pool I fish. So unlike Slipsinker I will hang around for a bit. Nonetheless, I suspect about 90% of postings are from a group of twelve of less, and in most respects they tend to be a bit self-serving.
As for the most helpful folks, Chris Tuckner, Tom Donaldson and Gary Wellman. The least Briank, without a doubt. As for the best dealership, Smitty’s.
Almost time to leave. Regarding my frustration I could give several examples, but the moderator will probably eliminate this post, because the so-called group really does control your posts.
March 25, 2007 at 10:39 am #553033I have a lot of respect for a lot of people on this board, maybe my post was taken as a diss to people, which it was not intended to do, it was meant to say that this board has turned into a waste of time to look at(which actually has turned into the contrary as of late)… I was not calling anyone out. I don’t know BrianK nor am I going to pass judgement on him. But if you want to catch fish go to Pool 9, fish by the log in the middle of the channel. People on here think that people are looking to steal spots, it’s not about spots, its about who can figure out the fish….people need to realize that.

Any port in a storm…….It beats wasting a stack of dollor bills at the local jiggly club.
March 25, 2007 at 4:38 pm #553095I’ll add my 2 cents worth. I’m a guide, the reason I’m here is to generate business. Self serving…YES. But what do the readers get in return; some knowledge. I’ve been quite on the site for a while now but in all honesty I don’t have anything new to add. What I have done is spent about 40 hours on an article on one of my favorite baits…a good old grub. The article is in Jame’s hands and as soon as his schedule permits he will post it.
As a tournament angler I have to hold some information back to compete. But if you can accept GENERAL statements and think them through (read between the lines) there is a ton of information out here. I’d suggest you start looking through the archives and see what’s there. It all doesn’t have to be new.

March 25, 2007 at 9:09 pm #553142It seems like this conversation about the bass forum denizens takes place about three times per year. I’m a frequent reader but don’t post a lot here, but my experience has been good. When I first moved to LAX four years ago I didn’t know a thing about the river or bass fishing so IDA was a good source of information. Reading the posts gave me some idea about who fished in this area and who would be a good person to contact for some more info on what was working.
Early on I made a few “Where are the fish biting posts?” and saw that whistling guy () and got a bit embarassed and irritated. So I changed my course and sent a few PM’s and each was answered with useful information.
Certainly the online personas of some people are a bit obnoxious (but entertaining), but using this site has been a lot more effective than hanging out at the boat landing asking fishermen how they did and what they were using.
Just my $.02.

March 25, 2007 at 11:28 pm #553182My main take on it, is that you get out what you put in..you share information with others..you usually get good response. You can’t come on here with 1 or 2 posts, nobody knows who you are, or where you are from, and necessarily expect instant response. The guys that are on here every day posting information and caring for others usually get information. I guess its kind of a build respect sort of thing. I know I personally tend not to give much elaborate information as far as spots to go to in emails I recieve from strangers..But if a frequent IDAer asked me a question, I would probably pour my brain out to him It’s hard to explain, but People don’t want to share their secrets with the wrong person..and if they don’t know you..how do they know if you are the right or wrong person?
Just my opinion
2Fishy4UPosts: 973March 25, 2007 at 11:52 pm #553190Thanks, perhaps like slipsinker it is time to leave. When a guy who perhaps has 10% of the posts on this board tells you to read a book even thought you never asked about specific spots, and fish several pools below this mudcat king it maybe time to leave.
Again, this has nothing to do with the Bass forum, but the original posted raised questions I have asked for two years and generally they get deleted.

By your above post, I would have to assume that you are talking about me.
I don’t and can not answer each post that comes up…although some say I try.
You asked me about this in a pm over a year ago..my response to you was that I didn’t remember it…could you show me the thread? I never heard back from you.
As far as your posts being deleted 2fish? I personally have never deleted any of your posts. Although I have agreed with the people that did.
I have to tell you, with all of the post that are counted next to my name, I’ve had ONE post deleted and it should have been. Keep in mind that I was a member for about 5 years prior joining Field Staff.
Maybe, just maybe you ask yourself “why are my posts being deleted”?
I do have to give you credit, at least you brought my attention to your problem. That’s more than most people do…they just go away mad.
Also, I’m sure you can find someone to answer your question in the catfish forum from someone other than me.

March 26, 2007 at 12:49 am #553211My comment wasn’t directed at you 2fishy..You have been on here plenty long obviously a lot longer than I have thats for sure
2Fishy4UPosts: 973March 26, 2007 at 1:15 am #553232No, I cannot find a post in the catfish forum better then yours. Sorry to inflate your ego a bit, but you are the person I would appreciate a bit of advice from and Lord knows when it comes to mudcats I need it.
I guess this post is getting a bit strange for a Bass board, but I am good at directing my questions to the right people.

Let me be the first one to say I seldom come to this forum…unless it’s to harrass one of the bass guys…
But I’ve heard rumors of an on line bass fishing video that will be coming out in the next few weeks…and there was another rumor about a bassen TV show from IDO.
With these warm temps…I don’t know about you guys…but struggling with not having the boat home yet.
Thanks for the email 2fish…give me a couple days.
