I’m fishing Saturday as a non-boater and yes I prefish. Sorry if you don’t like it (not)! As has been said here before the fish that the nonboater has more than once have saved the day and I like to have a feel for the water before I fish the tournament.

When I was a non-boater in BFL I pre-fished for every tournament. Even though this really didn’t help me at the scales, when I did fish as a boater I benefited from the on water experience (learning the different waters & improving my pre-fishing skills). A friend, who has qualified for back to back all Americans as a non boater, makes sure that he has time for at least a couple hours on the water before each tournament to gain a little confidence. If I was to ever fish BFL again, I would have to say it might be a good idea to copy his approach. Seems like he’s doing pretty well.

Sometimes things dont work out the way you think they will!

I would like to say congratulations to Kavin Villhauer (2nd place non-boater) and Keith Cripe (3rd place non-boater, second tournament ever fished). Keep up the good work!

Hey thanks Coon. I prefished friday, but we didnt go to any of those spots. When I fished clinton though we went to my spot. I also wanted to say thanks to my boat Jason Eggen for puting us on the fish.

Anybody know what happened to Chad ‘Buzzer?’ He called me on the way to the tournament meeting intending on fishing, but I didn’t see his name on the list. Chad had a long way to go to get to the meeting place and not much time to get there. Just wondering if he made it or not.

I talked to Chad after the meeting and his guaranteed boater backed out on him, so he didn’t get to fish. Did you get out this weekend Blue Fleck?

His boater noshowed and he got bumped. He drove about 5 hours to be turned away. I’d like to beat, I mean meet his boater.

That sucks big time. Hey Jc, I’ll hold him and you can have 1st crack.

BB, I never wet a line this weekend. For reasons I won’t get into, it was not a good weekend. My parental units went out live baitin’ it and got skunked. How does that work? The boat traffic was AWFUL and the river level took a big dive.

Lastly, James. Can we get that graemlin Jc used? Please? Or how about the Dancin’ Banana hammerin’ the cross eyed lemon head.

Can someone enlighten me on how the boater/non-boater scenario works out? You pay as a non-boater with a boater? But you don’t always (ever) fish together, right? Or do you? If not, why have a boater and non-boater “paired”?

Any boater or any non-boater can enter a BFL, but you are not guaranted to fish it. To be guaranted one must enter with a boater if you are a non-boater, and if you are a boater then you enter with a non-boater. This way the BFL can try and have an even amount of anglers. I think I cleared up your question, but if not then someone else can chime in.
