Excellent question… one I was going to drop here myself to tap some of the bass guy’s experience with this product line. Anyone have any comments on the P-line as far as cold weather fishability? I see they have a hi-vis line and I’m curious to try it but wouldn’t mind a little commentary from those that might have used it before.

I’m most interested in the 6 Lb diameter stuff.

    Thanks in advance.

I use the the Premium CX brand. It is ultra-clear, incredibly strong and stretches very little. But I have to say the best thing I like is its castability and softness. It doesn’t have much of a memory and really takes a beating.

Lastly, I have used this stuff in the 6lb diameter on spinning tackle for icefishing walleyes and have not had a problem with it at all. It does not fall off the spool like other lines and handles the ice well. But, some of the other brands they have like the CXX Extra Strong are a little stiffer and may not work as well as the Premium CX on spinning tackle. I have the CXX Extra Strong on a 7′ walleye rod with a spinning reel and it casts HORRIBLE. The CXX has more memory than the Premium.

Personally, if you are new to this brand of line, I would start with the CX Premium and then try the other brands.

I like the copolymer line called flouroclear. It handles the mussels well and it tough as nails. As for 6lb test. Sorry, I use 6lb as dental floss. –grin- Actually the lightest weight I use it 10 un spinning rods. It works very well. I think you will be impressed. It also has the density of water and is virtually invisible. If you are not trolling you might be able to get away with a little heavier line.

U sed to use the CXX-Stron on my baitcasters and the CX Premium on my spinners last year. This year I put Flouroclear on my spinning rods, and I like it even better. Plus, it is a bit thinner than the same test Stren, so James, you may even be able to go to an 8 pound line. However, if you want hi-Vis for line watching, FORGET IT. This stuff is clear.

The CXX-Xtra Strong is great for baitcasters. Has a bit of memory, but is real easy to pick birds nests out of (not that we get any of those!). It is, IMO, too stiff for spinning gear though.

I am a huge fan of the P-Line Flouroclear. I started off trying Berkley Vanish on southern Lake Michigan for smallies and hated the stuff. Broke off a ton of fish on the hookset. 2 years ago, I found the Flouroclear and what a difference over the Vanish. Great strength, abrasion resistance, and almost invisible underwater. I have 15, 12 or 20 on most of my baitcasting gear and 10 or 12 on my spinning rods. I found that with the underwater clarity I can go up in lb. test without worrying about the fish seeing the line. I have no rods with mono other that the Flouroclear. The only rods that don’t have it are my heavy duty rigs with Berkley Fireline. Try it and you will be suprised with the results. The only drawback is that the line is almost as invisible above the water as it is below. Watching your line is a little tougher than with other lines. Good luck and tight lines. Jeff Wolfe

I tried the CXX and hated it. It was like fishing with a cable. Haven’t tried the premium yet, but will when I respool the yellow stren I have been using.

Still using 6 0r 8 Stren Hi Vis for casting tubes and rattle trap types. Use mostly 10# XT on baitcasters but it doesn’t stand up like when used for trolling. I have heard a lot of positives about p line. What color is the High visibility P line James. Have you seen it at any local outlets? Do you know if it comes in 10lb. ? I have already been told to change to XL for casting, but would ne very interested in a high vis especially for timber jigging.
