Okay maybe I should eat my words. Smallmouth except for a 3.5 lber yesterday have been decidely tougher and smaller than Largemouth this year. Had the good fortune to win the
Ace Bass division last Wednesday with 3.3/3.4 Bucketmouth and boated like fish Saturday. Mostly Bucketmouth, but also the 3.5 mallie. All out of the current and all in dogfish country. I have some nice pictures from guide customers that all came in bitmap format. Any suggestions . Lawrence

Every Wednesday night there is a bass division(contest) and a walleye division(contest)….. I fished Pool 7 blind tonight,(didn’t prefish and haven’t fished pool in 2 years), for the Tristate bait and tackle tourney and caught three bass a northern and a huge drum. The bass were not big enough for a check, but it was a fun challenge. Probably should have locked through to 8 ,but with only 3 hours 15 minutes in tourney it would have been tough to do much better. Can’t believe how same pattern worked tonight that worked on three other pools last two weeks. I had probably 10 pickups tonight that I couldn’t get the hook into and really wish I could have seen the fish to see if they were larger ones like the pattern has been producing…… I donated three pints of blood tonight to the vampire skitos. They were voracious eaters tonight. I should stop scratching by morning.

Lawrence, I’ve been having plenty of trouble with the pick-ups without being able to stick the fish also. At one spot Sunday night I had 5 pickups in 5 casts, did stick a 13 1/2 inch largemouth on the 6th cast. Couldn’t get bit after catching the one though. It seemed like they were catching me with my rod tip up and by the time I got the tip down they were off. The same thing happened to my brother-in-law on Friday, but I was catching them the whole time , I guess I was lucky and not so smart .
