Anybody use this in this area?
i was watching a fishing show the other day that had KVD showing how to tie and use this rig. It was a very interesting set up.
For those who haven’t heard of this. You take a #5 barrel swivel and slip it on the main line. Then you tie another swivel to end of the main line. On your main line swivel tie on a 24″ leader line and attach a size 4/0 hook. Then on the free sliding swivel tie another leader 6″ shorter than the main line and attach the same size hook as before. Then he had 2 X2 shad bodies on the hooks. When this is casted out, the barrel swivel is just heavy enough to pull the shad under the water. The retrieve was real short erratic jerks. The two shad dart and dive and look really life like. I think the shad bodies were Strike King, but can’t quite remember.

I do something similar on clear lakes in the fall for smallies. You tie a 3-way swivel to your main line. Off one of the swivels you tie a 24″ leader with a Chug Bug on it, and on the other swivel you tie an 8″ leader with a small tube jig. You would be amazed at how often you get two fish on one cast. My partner caught a 4.5 and a 5 on the same cast last year. It was unbelievable.

I am sure to no one’s surprise that this would be illegal in Minnesota… Along with everything else that is known to actually catch fish.
