    I am just wondering if there is any open water out on the river this time of year and if it can be accesses with a boat. I heard one time that there is open water year round by redwing because of the nuc plant. Don’t know if that is true or not. Just wondering if it is possible to get out there yet and maybe tangle with some of those oversized sunfish. ike

    You are correct! Pool 4 by Red Wing is open year round The nuke plant in pool 3 is what gives us this fantastic year round opportunity. Here is a link to the Mississippi River forum here on IDA. The most talk you will find about the open water fishing will be in the walleye forum.
