OK.. I’ve been looking for a replacment in the same price range as the old Curado SF. ($130 to $150) IMHO that reel was one of the best bang for the buck deals on the market. Unfortunatly I have a couple that need replacing by spring.

I am looking for some opinions on what you guys are using in this range. Likes and dislikes.

I noticed the Garcia Revo SC. Anyone know anything?

i have not had the chance to put them to use yet but i like the feel, size, weight and profile. besides that they are super smooth. the guys that have been using them down south in flw events have nothing but rave reviews, i have heard more than one guy say that they are outcasting their old eqquipment by as much as 30 percent i cant wait to put them to use–if they hold up as all other abu products do–it will be in alot of guys hands

I held the one in the first picture at Gander Mountain on monday…It was a very nice, smooth, and attractive reel for the money. The combo was $150 and it was on a pretty nice rod- so a good deal My only concern was the ammount of line that it could hold, as the spool looked rather small.

Hey Slop, do you think that’s enough line for me? Especially since it casts 30% farther….

Great info WF99. Looks like i need to put one in my hands.

Cade, I’m not as worried about spool capacity. As lond as theres enough to run my deep cranks for a day I’m good. I currently back all my curados with old line and don;t have any problems. I do appreciate the input though.

Uh……no I am still in awe how a guy can cast that far If those reels can cast 30% farther, you will be able to cast from one side of the river to the other Imagine all the water you can cover while fan casting

you should probably switch over to saltwater tackle since it holds more line.

Nice that they finally have a low profile reel available in lefty.

I like the new Citicas better than the old Curados too, but we will see if they hold up as well. The only negative with them is they are a bit heavy.

4 to 5 years of leaning on them. They are past broken in but not totaly dead. I’ve got a couple with gears going and one with bearings. (I think.) The plan is to fix them. It’s just time for them to become back ups and get rid of the junk that I call backups now.

I was completely dipressed when they changed them last year. They’ve served me well. Especially for the $$$.

I’m sure Diawa has done great things with there bait casters. Unfortunatly I went threw 2 brand new ones the same year I found the Curado sf. Now I just have a bad tast in my mouth.

I was a bit upset, too. I was gonna try to get yours away from you

I’ve heard some great things about the Citica D, though.

I know of a great reel repair place for shimano- feel free to pm me since im not sure if i can post it here. I sent some curados to them and had the bearings changed. You can also have them replace the gears, I even had them change a 3.8:1 to a 6.2:1 since i never used the slow reel.

Thanks Bassbaron. I’ve got a local guy that a Shimano repair center. I’m going to have him make them hole so they cab be used as back ups or on new rods.
