I love mine and it’d have to be an awful special rod to get me to make the switch.

That being said, what characteristics do you guys look for in a Flippin’ Rod?

    Fast action rods?
    Telescoping?
    Stiff like a telephone pole?

Thomas, here is a more specific answer. I look for a long handle, one that I can put against my body for extra leverage when pulling a fish from heavy cover, fast tip for better feel when the bit is lite, good strong backbone to muscle those fish from heavy cover, longer rod 7’10” for flipping presentations, Fugi guides, and American made. Falcon, Cara is the rod for me.

I’ve heard good things about the Falcon line. From what I understand, they are about as popular down south as St. Croix is up here.

Jeremy Crawford got me hooked on the St. Croix line. I used to be a Berkley/Fenwick guy. The Series One rods are great, but I like the Avids just a little more.

I use a 7′ Heavy Action Cabelas XML. Usually 20lb mono on a Shimano Cardiff 5.2:1 to wench those pigs out of the garbage.

I use a 7 foot St. Croix MH with powerpro 50 lb on an old style Shimano Curado(Wish they still made em’). I love the feel of St. Croix rods. I would go with G Loomis but being a broke college kid, cant afford 200+ dollar rods.

I do an awful lot more pitchin’ than flippin’…

But second the comments on the Cabelas XML series…matched with Ambassador 50N and 20# Suffix mono…
