Rat-L-Trap, Diamond Shad or Super Spot

    Which do you choose?

I choose the Strike King Diamond Shads because I got tired of the chrome falling of the Traps. That’s the same reason I don’t use the Super Spots.

On the flip-side, I’m not too fond of the matte chrome Strike King uses. It’s effective, and they do catch fish for me, but I like the shiny chrome.

Which do you guys choose and why? What if any modifications do you make to your lipless cranks?

I pull all the split rings and hooks off and replace them with the oval shaped split rings and triple grip hooks.

BTW…..I left the Lucky Craft LVR’s off because they are on a different level.

The new Strike King Red Eye Shads look pretty good.

Rat-L-Traps, Yo-Zuri’s, and BPS’ lipless cranks.

I change hooks as well, but normally not to the triple grips. I prefer round bends.

I fish the aruku shad when fishing trap style baits. I like the way they run nose down over rocks, sand ect. They are built with a channel along the top that keeps them digging. (This is not a bait to run over cover. IMHO.) Spro is releasing a smaller version this year that I am looking forward to seeing.

I personally make very little Mod’s to this bait. but do change out hooks on most other traps that are in my boat.

Frenzy or Rapala….The frenzy’s are amazing…the Paint just won’t come off! For the money, I don’t really like to buy Rat-l-Traps because the paint is gone after a few outings Although they definitely have a time where the fish just seem to want them more (different shape, more rattles etc.) Rapalas are the same way, but they are cheap enough to beat to heck!

I throw a lot of Rattle Traps. Same thing. Change the hooks to round bend.

I like rattle traps, they seem to work best for me, never had to much trouble with the paint coming off. I also like rattlin’ raps. They have a different vibration than the others I think, all have there own time and place.

Aruku shad also, I am also looking forward to the smaller version.
I have not found a reason to change the hooks YET.

Man I really hate agreeing with Chriss

Slider…. First it becomes a habit, then it’s just a part of life. You’ll get used to it.

PS.. I didn’t know you could thorw them on a Zebco 101. Throw what you can handle I guess.

I replace the hooks but the rapalas are what I use most of the time.
