A group of guys and I are going to be road tripping down to table rock this spring for a week of bassin! Anyone have suggestions on lodging. There will be five of us and two boats so a kitchen and electricity outlets would be nice. Also does anyone know about the night life down there in branson or Kimberly city?

When are you going. The Ranger owners tournament is down there on May 12th. They say there could be 400 to 500 boats.

You’ll have a blast. I held my tournament (Internet Buddy Bass Tournament – http://www.heartlandtackleservice.com/ibbt/) on Table Rock for 4 years. I would HIGHLY recommend Lazy Lee’s resort. Just a few miles south of the Kim City bridge. Very afforable. They have a new 4 plex that sleeps 4/5 that is very nice. LOTS of room, boat launch, nice docks, and GREAT folks.

AHoy’s in Kim City has a good “view”. The Bearded Clam in Kim City usually has a live band on weekend nights and it pretty packed. Other than that, Branson west is pretty close by and I’m sure there is plenty to do there.

We moved the IBBT to Lake Oz last year for a change of scenery. We’ll be there again this year (March 31 / April 1) if you’d like to change lakes and join us. The invite goes out to anyone else. (I know MossBoss was interested last year.)

If you do stick with Table Rock, be prepare for some tough fishing. It’s feast or famine there usually. The water is VERY clear on the main lake, and “shallow” is considered about 20 feet these days. If you hit it right though, it can be awesome. That can be hard to do with the Ozarks weather though. (Cold fronts the last 3 years we were there.)

I’d be glad to help you out with areas to fish on the Rock if you want. Send me an e-mail of when you’re going and I’ll see what I can do. thefluker at gmail dot com

    Thanks,
    Chuck

WE DID A TRIP THERE A FEW YAERS AGO AND I CANNOT REMEMBER THE NAME OF THE PLACE WE STAYED, IT JUST TO THE WEST (STONES THROW) OF THE KIMBERLY CITY BRIDGE, REAL NICE CONDO’S WITH COVERED SLIPS. DOGWOOD CANYON IS COOL ALSO, WORTH THE TRIP.

    Natureboy,

The whole area of Table Rock is really fun and different to fish. My dad lives in KC so I’ve fished all the MO lakes. What guys said above is right, The Rock can be nasty tough fishing at times but I’ve also had some pretty good days. Ask around at all the bait shops, the few times I’ve fished the lake the bite is usually going either up the James (dirtiest water in the whole lake) or White (cleaner then the James) if you want to fish a little shallower (10ft is shallow) or if you want a fun challenge go down by the dam and fish bluff walls and points in 40 ft of water.

As far as the other thing, like above Kim City is the ONLY place to go. Here is my two cents on Branson, if you want to feel young like the day you were born young, hang out in Branson, MO. When I was in Branson I think the youngest person besides myself on the street was 95! When I was there I couldn’t get over how many buses of retired people were roaming the streets. For that reason, not the best place to “view” the young ladies or drink a beer. Stay in Kim City! Just my two cents I am sure some of the shows are nice but just seemed too much like a retirement village for taste.
