I bought a Kipawa trolling motor prop 3 years ago and love it. Last year Motorguide offered the same pro under the name Hydrilla Hacker, now nobody is selling this prop. What is the deal? I heard some negative stuff about this prop, but did not believe it. This prop is much more weadless and powerful thn Motorguide stock stuff. I have had no problems. Should I quit using it?

I bought one last year after fishing with a couple of different pros in an Elite Series tourney that swore by it. I had no problems with mine and haven’t heard anything negative about them.

I’m not sure about the Kipawa prop, but I fished with a guy “Pat Golden” at Fort Madison last year during the B.A.S.S. tournament and he was cussing the Hydrilla hacker half the day. Actually, the guy didn’t swear so I kept hearing, “Hydrilla Hacker my butt”!

This is the only time I have been in a boat with one so I it might not be a fair opinion. There were other times throughout that day when the trolling motor would blow through some salad.

If I get the chance to fish fish another one I’ll let you know.

i dont know about those props, but I do know that motorguides have a tough time getting through the slop alot of the times, thats why I am a minnkota guy! nothing can stop them!(except when I lost the pin to my slide plate and didnt know it, bye bye trolling motor, thank god for my ‘quick’ hands!)
