Why prefish as a non-boater..if you prefish why don’t you get the balls enough to jump in

Why pre-fish as a non-boater? WHY NOT? Many times I’ve fished as a non-boater only to draw a complete pinhead that has no idea what is going on, only to bail him out on the fish I found. Secondly, most times it’s not about having the ‘balls enough to jump in,’ it’s about having the cash and a boat.

To all the guys I know that are fishing non-boater @ Clinton, good luck. I wish for you bigger fish than the guy in the front. It can be done.

I am pre-fishing with the boater I registered with. The reason I don’t become a boater is for a few reasons, 1) I am a senior in high school saving money for college 2) My boat is a 14 ft. with a 15 h.p. which is small and not allowed to be used in a BFL, next time think before you shoot your mouth off.

Thanks BlueFleck, that is another reason why I pre-fish, so if my boater needs some help, I have some clue of what is going on.

I decided not to fish it this year, but will fish PdC and LaCrosse. What I don’t like about the Clinton tournament is that almost everyone locks up to Savannah. Last year I drew boat number 4, by the time we locked through we were probably boat 150 with the wildest most dangerous exit at the lock I have ever seen.
Prefishing as a co-angler can be a big benifit if you find fish. It can give you a fall-back spot, give you confidence in a technique for the tourney and just get you on the water.
I also fish as a non-boater for several reasons. My boat works great, but is too small, I can’t really afford to pay the bigger fee, and I’m getting used to fishing tournaments. It is a great format to start out in.

I’m fishing as a boater this year and every year after that!

Nonboating was a good way for me to go to learn what I needed to learn about the Mississippi.

Could you draw a pinhead? Yep. What happens then? You fish like a machine with the water he’s brought you to -I know that’s not much consolation, but that’s part of the nonboater deal.

Let’s see, we’ll be sleeping in our trucks or a camp ground.

Someone mentioned cost… I bought the boat this year, I put a new transmission in my truck, now I’m having engine work done on my boat… I have’nt even made it to Clinton and I’m in for a few bucks, but, hey, that’s part of the glitz and glamer of being a boater

Hope to see you boys at Clinton -oh, I’ll be the guy in the bass boat with a red Wisconsin hat on

    Have a good one.

Why pre-fish as a non-boater..This is kind of humous..but Bluefleck said it right…who knows who you draw…maybe can help him or her..maybe not…I used to fish non-boat..and drew some of those pin heads..Some of them I helped out, some I didn’t..Even managed to help my boater get a check. Nowadays as a boater I will help my non-boater out if I can..The last time the BFL fished Red Wing I fished mainly for my non boater cuz he was on borderline for Regionals…He made it to the All-American… and even if you get stuck with a “pinhead” you can always learn something. Any non boater going to the BFL also god luck..Personally I hate the place..But that makes it a challenge. And I will be pre-fishing one day with my non-boater..Right Glenn……..
Non-boaters, if you happen to draw me, don’t expect a lot of fish, but you will have fun and maybe learn something from each other….

I SPENT THE FIRST 3 YEARS OF MY TOURNAMENT LIFE FISHING IN THE REDMAN (NOW BFL)IN THE BACK OF THE BOAT. IT WAS THE BEST EXPIERIENCE A “GREEN” TOURNAMENT FISHERMAN COULD HAVE. NOT ONLY DID I LEARN THE DIFFERENT POOL AND HOW TO RUN THEM, I ALSO LEARNED HOW TO SWIM JIGS, FLIP, PITCH AND SLOP FISH. I LEARNED FROM SOME GREAT FISHERMAN. WE ALL GET THE “PINHEADS” BUT I THINK THERE IS SOMETHING TO LEARN THERE ALSO. THESE ARE THINGS YOU WON’T LEARN STAYING AT HOME WATCHING BILL DANCE.

GOOD LUCK GLENN AND ALL NON-BOATERS. I NOW OF WHAT YOU SPEAK, I HAVE BEEN THERE.

all these years of what I considered education shot to heck
Actually I think that El’ Salto has a room reserved with his name on it.. I think this is the only place he fishes… Makes it easy to make a show about 5lb fish.
Actually he is a good salesman and entertaines me through out the winter months.

I’m not knocking the non boaters at all!! I’m was just saying if ya got a boat good enough to fish a tourney and your out pre-fishing then jump in and fish the boater side!!

I understand the finacial sides of both worlds and i woudn’t and don’t look down on the guy that can’t afford to fish the boater side! Most of the guiys on the non-boater side have more knowledge but not the funds to fish the boater side..then you have some “pinheads” and guys that just have money that are clueless!! i know one guy that lives in camanche iowa that get’s a new boat every year and has ton’s of money..you know what he can’t catch a cold but he fishes all the bfl’s and a lot of BASS events( i think he finaly gave up on BASS)..why does he fish,,,,he’s got money!! give their money to somebody that knows how and has a desire to fish and kick butt in tourneys you’ll see and unstoppable guy!!

I think god gives money to guys that can’t catch fish to make it equal!! you don’t see very many rich fisherman unles they earned or fished for it!!

The majority of the boats will be there or potters marsh, but I would keep on going past the spring lake exit and get away from some of the crowds. Good luck to all who are fishing it this year.

    Hmm. Spring Lake.

If you’re not one of the first three on that beaver hut, forget it… If you’re a nonboater and your pro has you camped out there for nearly the entire tournament, kick’em in the butt and tell’em to get off the memories

    Thanks,

Beaver hut..hmm…so what side of the lake is that on…Can ya tell I don’t fish Spring Lake much…Hate the crowds…Heard the weather is not going to be on our side.. Making it all the tougher I guess. One question though are the fish down that way ready to spawn? Or pre- spawn stage yet????? Just curious… Or maybe they said to heck with spawning…
