I got this from Pat Shmaltz today.
I for one am sadden that the state of Wisconsin is loosing him.
Good Morning:
I am writing to inform you that I have accepted a new job with the Minnesota DNR as a research scientist stationed in Aitkin. The position is 1837 treaty biologist that is responsible for management of 1837 treaty fisheries (primarily Mille Lacs Lake) and conducting related research. I will be finishing at Wisconsin DNR in late February and beginning with MN-DNR on March 5.
I am very excited to accept this new challenge but also a bit sad to leave WDNR. Despite some of the challenges in my 5 years at WDNR, I will miss the work and the people. It was with much thought that I made the difficult decision to leave. The MN-DNR position is an excellent opportunity to get into the field, and a great opportunity to move to a fantastic community that I am looking forward to raising a young (and growing) family.
Each one of you that were part of the FTAC deserves tremendous thanks for your time and efforts. As I have said before, the outcome of the public hearings should not diminish at all your efforts.
I will be completing the pilot program evaluation for submittal to the appropriate legislative committees and completing a summary of the public hearings to be used to determine the appropriate course of action for tournament rule development. When those are completed, they will be provided to the committee members and posted on the fishing tournament regulation development web site.
