I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share any info as to what type of area the peole that won it up on pool 7 were fishing. I heard that they were fishing smallies. If you would be willing to PM me specific info, I would appreciate that as well. Thanks in advance. We found some good fish on gravel flats, All smallies, up to 4.5 lbs. Only had 5 fish though due to boat troubled . Hope to be moving again in four weeks.

From what I was told the limit of fish that won the tourney was caught on the lake(Onalaska) and was all Largemouth 30 lbs. Take it for what it is worth. They had 4 that were about 4-4.5 lbs. the rest were all piggies too. My uncle and his partner had all Smallies 23 lbs and placed 3rd(I think) and they fished pool 8. I haven’t been able to locate a breakdown of the winning weights and teams, when I do I will post it here.

I got this press release from the Wisconsin Bass Federation website.
On Saturday, April 26, 2003, the West Salem Bassmasters held their first annual Spring Frenzy Open Tournament. A field of 37 boats took off from the Clinton Street landing in LaCrosse to spend the day fishing on Pools 7-8-9 of the Mississippi River. The weather was great and the water high, which brought in lots of nice fish. A total of 168 largemouth and smallmouth bass were weighed in, and all were released. The prize winners were:
    1st — Dick Wateski/Jeff Schneider 30.50 lbs.
    2nd — Bruce Chandler/John Hamilton 28.85 lbs.
    3rd — Ryan Dulek/Lloyd Demorest 23.00 lbs.
    4th — Bret Hafner/Doug Stanton 22.65 lbs.
    5th — Rodney Huhn/Anthony Gardner 21.70 lbs.
The 5th place team also brought in the big bass for the day — a 5.40 lb. largemouth.
