Wierd question here, but if they don’t sponser you, why would you go out of your way to promote their stuff?
December 26, 2006 at 6:40 pm #515218Triton’s web page has apparel too.

December 26, 2006 at 6:45 pm #515220Yes shirts like those are what I am looking for. And I don’t have a good reason why I would get them. I don’t have any sponsers. I like and use these products. If someone were to sponser me I would wear thier stuff. I have won some tournaments and had pictures taken. Thought maybe I should wear something more professional looking. Not that I am a pro by any means. Any tips on getting some sponsers? Thanks
December 26, 2006 at 6:54 pm #515222Win tournaments and they will find you. Otherwise create a resume of sorts, distribute it to the companies whose products you use and can attest to. A sponser might do as little as offer you baits etc. at cost, or as much as give you free stuff, or even money for the tourneys. Start local, in areas where it would benefit a company to put their name on your shirt, truck, or boat. Make yourself available for promotional events, it’s all about selling product!

Do as you wish. There is nothing wrong with having pride in what you love. Some people get things handed to them on a silver platter, others get lucky, and some have to bust their butt to get everything they own. I believe to be professional you have to look professional. Doesn’t require you to have contracts or discounts although it would be nice. This is an interesting topic everywhere. Some people just don’t know how to be polite about others desires. Good luck finding what you want. Watch this and other web forums. Guys sell things all the time. Thats how I got my RANGER shirt and I wear it with pride. Eventhough I don’t get paid to. By the way thanks to the person I bought it from. You know who you are.
December 26, 2006 at 7:33 pm #515242I found some stuff for triton and yamaha on thier websites. Anyone see anything for Garmin or Quantum? Could not find anything on their websites. Thanks for the help on this stuff.
December 26, 2006 at 7:55 pm #515243The Quantum shirt was sent to me by my Quantum rep.
For other Quantum gear to go http://tackleservice.com/
Hope that helps

Huh???? Just wondering why a guy would do that. The shirt and hat certainly do not make the fisherman, neither does the boat or rods and reels he uses. No big deal if you want to wear the gear for the equipment you use, but if you are serious about getting sponsers, don’t just give yourself away. Like I said, make a name for yourself and they will come.
The only company that my fishing partner and I try to include in all our photos that isn’t a sponser of ours is Ranger boats. Bob wears Ranger clothing and hats all the time. He owns a Ranger boat, as of today I will own one too. Our hope is that some time in future someone from Ranger sees the fish that we catch and and takes a liking to us.
Anyway, have fun fishing. Wearing whatever you want!

Perhaps that’s how he will get noticed and gain sponsorships? To be a professional in anything you have to “look the part”. I have a friend who sells Lexus for a living….dresses in nice suits and ties everyday so people who can afford Lexus will approach him on “level”. If he was a slob like me he’d go hungry.
I think what drop-shot is trying to accomplish is taking his fishing to the next level by looking the part….if that means sponsoring products prior to getting his shirts for free then more power to him! There’s an aura of confidence when you dress-up, whether it be a car-dealer in a suit, a soldier in his uniform, or a fisherman with a logo-shirt on.
December 26, 2006 at 9:17 pm #515276the funny thing is i now own a new boat, I love to bass fish, I have many different tackle boxes and different lures from different companies. looking professional can be done without putting the name on your shirt before they offer it to you. looking professional also comes with your confidence and also how you hold yourself and the way you speak. If other anglers are at the landing and asking how you did, and you start with the “Ahms” and the “wells” they are going to think 2 things, either you are not sure youself, or you are lying to them. if you want to wear the name on your shirt before you get them to notice you, Arn’t you kind of shooting yourself in the foot. they will look at the fact that you wore thier name for free before you signed the paper, now you want to get $$$ for wearing it now, what has changed?? get yourself a nice button up short sleeve shirt, or even a few long sleeved ones for the cooler days, a nice pair of kakhi’s or even blue jeans and go fishing in them all of the time. being professional is not all about the name on the front or back of the shirt. it is the confidence in which you can handle yourself in different situations. to me that is being a true pro, not because you have names of gear all over your boat and on your shirt. maybe you can get some of our veteran tourney anglers to chime in here as well.
just my opinion.

hope you get that dream, keep on reaching for it!!
December 27, 2006 at 2:57 am #515404I have to agree with others here, if you just want to look the part that is one thing, but if you are trying to get sponsored then don’t give it away for free. I wear my sponsors gear because i believe in the products they make and i use them. That said I wear their tournament shirts at tournaments before I got sponsored, again if someone is promoting for free what whould be the companies incentive to hand you money or products to do the same. If you want a Pro looking shirt go check out tourneyshirts.com they will make any type of shirt you desire, and if you get local sponsors you can give them as much space as you want as you design the shirts. Just my thoughts.

Good point
If you want to wear the product that you support…then do it! Maybe you will get recognized for wearing their product and for being successful at what you do or maybe you won’t but definately act the part and don’t give up on the dream!!
Maybe IDA should pay me when I wear their hat when I fish ….actually I wear it because I like to support them!
December 27, 2006 at 8:58 am #515440I think the coolest thing ever would be to make it to the top level and show up to each tournament wearing a suit and tie. I’d quickly quiet the media by stating, “I’m heading to work”. Unfortunately, the cost of tournament fishing is so outrageous I don’t know anyone who couldn’t use some sponsor money to help offset the expenses.
When it comes to my tournament apparel, I either received money/product for wearing a sponsors name, or will receive money for wearing their name. My current tournament shirt is a plain ole Team Blazer shirt. Why you ask?—> MONEY! BLAZER BONUS BUCKS!
I do promote all my sponsors, I just never got into the whole deal of wearing tournament shirts covered with 100 sponsors.
I’d rather wear and promote a regional company like Brovarney Baits. I know the ins-and-outs of all the products they make and sell. That way I don’t look like a poser when a fellow angler asks me about the latest colors of the bait company plastered on the side of my boat.
December 27, 2006 at 5:31 pm #515608Wow I didn’t think looking for a new shirt would bring up all this conversation! Good stuff! Just to clarify, I would love to become a pro but do not have the time to invest. I made that decision a few years back. I would love to have some sponsers to help with costs but again I don’t have the time to pursue them. I don’t dress like a slob when I fish either. I just thought it would be nice to get some fishing hats and shirts for when I fish tournaments. And since I use certain brands I thought I would support them. Just like I might wear a Titlest hat or Callaway shirt when I golf. I am not looking to cover my shirt with a million patches or stickers on my boat. Thanks for the help with finding some gear!
December 27, 2006 at 6:54 pm #515654but it is really cool that you wish to promote thier products due to your experience. I hear you, like I want to get a few tracker boat hats, because I have a tracker boat and I happen to like the one that I am in. but when it comes to fishing tournaments or looking to be professional at some things, sometimes it is just the way you carry yourself and act that will make the world of difference, not some shirt with a companies name on it. but there again, that is my opinion, good luck in your search and hope you have some food for thought.

December 27, 2006 at 7:05 pm #515659Drop-Shot,
If there is a product that you use and believe in, there is nothing wrong with promoting it even if you are not getting paid to wear it. If you are interested in a Triton Jersy, there are some of last years Team Shirts available on the web-site. They are affordable and look nice.
Good luck this year.December 28, 2006 at 5:30 pm #516029Here’s one on ebay, thought you might want to see it.
