above was a 3 lber. Here are 2 chunky 2 lbers (both were weighed on a digital scale)
September 23, 2006 at 10:38 pm #481945can’t give details, i’m having computer problems..This one is around 2 lbs also. caught over 65 fish today though.
September 24, 2006 at 1:44 am #481967Nice job and thanks for sharing the pic’s! 65….all bass? What were you using?
September 24, 2006 at 2:03 am #48197565 fish?!?! Man, I sucked today. I had like 5 footballs out on the channel. What was the deal?
September 24, 2006 at 3:23 am #481981Nice fish once again you are on fire. It was a great day on the water.
September 24, 2006 at 4:51 am #481982thanks guys..Sorry for no details at first. today i was mostly throwing a rapala jointed shad rap or a carolina rigged 10″ red shad powerworm. The powerworm really pulled through at the end, putting probably 15 more fish in my hand after we thought the spot had gone dead. It was a really fun time. Yes, 65 is a shallow estimate. It was really crazy. Good luck on the water!
September 24, 2006 at 4:55 am #481984also, the fish were caught in deep water with a hard bottom. Find the breaks, catch the bass. Suspended shad schools are really keeping the bass sporadic, but some spots seem to just be hot, and will continue to be until we get water temps below 48ish degrees. I like to throw shad raps, cotton cordell walley divers, and an occasional rattle trap for these fish. Most fish were small 10-13 inchers, but i thought it was a nice way to spend the day, because i spent at least 2 hours without catching anything until i found these fish.
September 24, 2006 at 12:53 pm #482010From knowing where those pictured fish were caught, I can beleive you caught that many fish. I’ve had some incredible days in there during the Fall season.
Good job Cade!
bucketmouth1Posts: 175September 24, 2006 at 11:10 pm #482097what boat were you in bucket mouth? I was in a flatbottom with a 30 horse mariner on it. Justin and I fished the gravel pit again, these same areas with the same techniques and slottered them again. But there was no size at all. We each caught 1 keeper for the day and that was it. We also tried fishing main channel rock, wingdams, and backwater lily pads, eel grass, pretty much everything. Every where we went, we caught fish, but nothing that would bump. It was a really boring day on the river.

September 24, 2006 at 11:42 pm #482103Bet you are glad to get back to shool on Monday so you can rest your arm. Good fishing!!! Keep up the great reports.
September 25, 2006 at 5:04 pm #482341Dan- I also know another area nearby which you have visited recently . I saw you sneakin by the day before our last BFL. I needed to pick up another Milwaukee-area buddy at the ramp so I had to leave. Good area though…
September 25, 2006 at 5:55 pm #482382I stopped in there yest mid day… Good times. It seems like the shad aren’t schooled up in there as much as they usually are this time of year in years past. I wonder if this is becuase of the abnormally warm summer? I know in about three weeks you’ll catch plenty in there that will bump… I usaully go duck hunting, run up to the pits, and then go back duck hunting.
I did end up getting on some good size (2.25-2.3/4) down on some sand though.
September 26, 2006 at 12:16 am #482534i consider the pits from swift creek, all the way down behind shopko. The main pit is the one behind shopko that they actually used to get the gravel out of, but since there are several monster holes in that stretch, i refer to it all as “the pits…” yup, natureboy. I know exactly what you are saying. Last fall (later in the season, after football was over) i used to go down and fish off those white docks with some friends. We’d throw shad raps for 1-2 hours each night and catch 7 or 8 keepers each for 3 people. caught a lot of 2-3-1/2 lbers in there too. I know i caught a lot of fish this weekend, but overall i was very very disapointed. Saturday wasn’t too bad but the weekend as a whole wasn’t too great for what i’m looking for(BTW, we tried everything, behind the barges on the channel, wingdams, backwater grass, etc. and still found the same results). I’d rather go out and catch 7 or 8 fat 3 lbers and be done than catch a hundred 10 inchers and 7 keepers for the entire weekend… but oh well, what can you do?
September 26, 2006 at 12:33 am #482539you complain an awful lot for someone whos out fishing and catching fish . i would just be happy to be out there, coming from someone who hasn’t done anything outdoors related since the begining of school that sounds like an awful greedy statment just be happy to be catching fish , look at it this way the alternitive is either a day on the water getting soaked and not getting a bit all day or sittting at home

That area you seen me going to has been red hot for awhile. Droping a worm off of one of them big pads isSeptember 26, 2006 at 2:32 am #482602whos complaining? After catching so many dinks and hardly any keepers, it would be frustrating for anyone i think. but oh well, just my personal opinion. Stomp on it if ya like.

wow sounds like a complaint to me does anyone else seem to see this or is it just me, my point wasn’t meant to be argued anyway it was to say that you are being abit “boring” and egocentric

I look at things alittle different myself. Any day on the water is FUN. Granted some days are better than other days but any day on the water is great in my mind. We all learn from our not so good catch days also. When I find myself wanting to respond to a post I have to ask myself if what I want to say will help someone, benefit the topic being talked about, and is what I want to say kind. If not then its best I don’t say anything. If I have been attacked in my mine, or something was said thats not very kind to me or about me then I have to remember this-two ”wrongs” don’t make a ”right.” If I talk back against the person who said not so nice things about me it is not right and it makes me not kind just like someone else was to me. No matter how you look at it two wrongs don’t make a right. If I can’t be kind in what I want to say then its best not to say something. This is how I look at things in life, or atleast try to do. Each person is entitled to their own opinion and it doesn’t have to be the same as mine. Thats not whats important. Whats important is how I conduct myself, how what I say can benefit someone and help them. Enjoy your fishing guys. Honor the fact that you both have the same love for fishing and help each other to have a better day both on and off the water. You will both be glad you did in the end. I look forward to learning more about fishing for bass and about your fishing outtings as you both share with us all.
Thanks, BillPS. OPPS…I didn’t see your post Blue. I stopped reading right before it and made my post. SORRY.
