Yo dudes. If anyone knows of a guy who got a scratch on the back of his red Ranger from a yellow Blazer while in the Pool 13 lock during last weekends BFL…let me know.

What a mess . 80 boats scrambling toward the front and the guy in front of you doesn’t put it in gear . Oh well.

You guessed it, I hit the dude. I didn’t think it was a big deal but he seemed to think so so I told the guy I’d meet up with him after the tournament. Well after the checks were handed out and I had time to see him he was gone. So if anyone catches wind of this just send him my way and I’ll make it good… .

The funny thing was that I didn’t flinch. My non-boater freaked out and tried to run up to the front and I didn’t make a move. Once I realized we were going to hit there was nothing I could do about it so I just let it happen.

After the fact my non-boater kept telling me how he thought it was crazy that I didn’t even make a move… I just told him there was nothing I could do about it so why freak out. Plus, I had my mind on fish…

Lastly- I have had my boat scratched in a lock…it happens in big tournaments. If someone is super concerned about their gelcoat they had better hang in the back… .

He may have not been able to put it in gear because he would have run in to the guy in front of him!!Do you run in to guys at stop signs with your car if they don’ move??

I first put it in gear because the guy behind me was in the back of me. I then tried to put it in reverse to avoid the guy in front of me but my motor died (We sat in the lock for 20 minutes with the motors turned off). You were there Rollie, you know. Anyway, do you know the guy?

Of course I didn’t intentionally ram him. Now you sound like the guy I hit. I wanted to tell him, “You know you’re right! I was sitting on the wall there and thought to myself, Hey, today will be a nice day to damage our expensive equipment”

Come on dude… I’ve locked in many tournaments and this is my first incident and hopefully my last.

To answer your question WF99- I’m pretty sure there was a 225 or 250 Merc on the back and I think it was a Comanche series…not a Z (could be wrong though). The dude was older.

Nort, it’s just a Ranger. No big deal, they give those things away. Alvinmack got one the other day for buying a coffee & a dozen doughnuts at Dunkin Donuts…

Dave, nothing personal I just have a problem with guys that run up my back. If someone is on my back I will not put my boat in gear and hit the guy in front of me. I will take the hit from behind and deal with it.Again I say if a car is going to bump you from behind at a stop sign do you put it in gear and hit the guy in front of you?? In the locks there is always going to be some bumping going on from the sides of boats with the current and all as the locks are opening. We all know that and try to keep it at a minimum.I just think it’s amazing that if we see a guy in a parking lot open his car door and ding the door of our new truck we go balistic but when we crack the gelcoat on a 40 to 50 thousand dollar boat we just say “well he should have been moving.” I COMMEND your actions to try to find the guy you ran in to. I would think if there was enough damage done that he was worried about he would not have a hard time figuring out who has a yellow boat. Sorry I unloaded on you but it’s a pet peeve of mine. If we lock together in Lax. try to get the whole side of my boat. I think a yellow racing stripe would look good on blue. If I don’t see you, keep it going your having a great year.

I’m sure I’ll be locking in the next tournament so I’ll probably see you. I promise there will be no sharing of paint.
